Beaver Clothing - Cosmetic Details and Accessories for working Beavers! (and hats)
A small Detail to tell the Different Beavers running around apart.
For Example a farming Beaver has a strawhat on.
Or a Water Gathering Beaver is carring a little Flask Item on him. (just cosmetic)
That way, we woudnt have to select the buildings to see who is doing which job.

@Log EaterI don't think the beavers in workstations need these. But on the field would be nice!
The beavers in the loading screen's illustration is exactly what I expect of this suggestion's implementation! -

Tillinger Miklós MergedSo it would be nice, if beavers would have working uniforms, so you could identify easily if there are enough haulers for helping the carpenters, or the carpenters still need to run a lot to the warhouse.
Or you would find out quicker if the lumberjacks are idle, cause if they do, they will transfer goods between warhouses. -

Slaw Merged1. Please add tailoring: clothes /shoes based on wool, leather, silk and cotton as additional well-being option. Perhaps as "simple" and "luxury" clothes.I would prefer to see my beavers getting stuff like food and clothes from a shop / market instead of the storage.
-
21 Sep, '21
Slaw Merged2. Please add "hats". example: Farmers hat, woodcutter helmet. Perhaps like a cosmetic which the player doesn't have to micromanage. I was disapointed to see that my farmer had no hat. (similar to Settlers 2)

Slaw MergedI saw this sugestion too, but I had also a different idea: Adding (free) hats related to the profession (without the need of craftig, just cosmetic). It would be easier to tell who has which job. Farmers hat, lumberjack helmet etc.. Characters would look slightly more unique.

Gin Fuyou Admin MergedSlaw, I've read your suggestion, split it into two and merged in this one and https://timberborn.featureupvote.com/suggestions/202108/cosmetic-details-for-working-beavers because I think each part fits to corresponding ones and it benefits both to get more votes and be considered for devs. I'm sorry about taking away it as your own suggestion, but with how many there are past week I believe it's for the best.

CRCalkos MergedI'd love to be able to pick out beavers in crowds just by looking at them. Different outfits for every job would not only be useful mechanically, but aesthetically. I'm enjoying the game so far, keep up the excellent work!

warbrand2 MergedOk going to high detail this sorry in advance.
Clothing isn't important to beavers, but it can help one stick out. Once a city hits a point they may need to start growing flax and creating cloth.
Tailors come in around this point and will make several types of clothing from different materials each with a different function and way it helps.
examples of clothing
Cloth shirts: just decorative increases happiness
wooden helmets: works 10% faster in a industrial job (beavers will take off after work.)
Cloth hats: just decorative increases happiness
plank woven packs: a back pack that allows one to carry 2 of a resource at a time.
Metal helmets: works 20% faster in an industrial job
metal tooth: works 10% faster in harvesting and lumber jobs. (beaver will take off after work)
Decor that requires cloth
Beaver flag: a flag showing a beaver
Cloth benches: more comfy then before
high end relaxation area: cloth chairs, a fire pit and a "hot tub" requi -

TalileLove most of this less keen on some specifics.
A lab coat seems a bit too modern for these beavers, it'd feel out of place for me. Maybe try and draw on older inventors or fantasy artificers more than modern scientists?
Pith helmet has a bad history IRL that I don't wanna think about when I'm playing this :/ like they were less scavengers and more colonisers.
Maybe they could have a wide brimmed hat to protect them from the sun? A little grappling hook for climbing the old buildings? Indiana jones outfit sounds ok too.
All in all love this suggestion! They would be so adorable! -

RaeMaybe just give them fun hats to mark their jobs.

AllexyGalaxyClothing or Hats would be a great option to add perks to the later game. With the possibility to plant and harvest flax and a tailor building. (Could also provide clothing as resource for building a theater maybe)

AesphyxiatoinAny kind of animation when they are working. Chewing wood down as a lumberjack, using a hammer when building, etc.

Jimbo JamboUpvoted, but I don't think we need to go crazy. Who ever heard of a beaver with clothes? Silly, right? And remember that they still need to be able to swim.
I just want hats for my farmers.

Beto MergedHaving so many characters doing multiple tasks at the same time. It would be nice to have a visual representation of their current job. For example, a color specific scarf. Such that when they die, you instantly know you wont be collecting water etc. etc. Also, it will be an indicator of a homeless, jobless or a child. (not that the child is obvious, but hey).

NeffsterI don't care about job specific clothing, but I can understand why people do, but a tailor that provides clothes that would have a benefit such as increased life expectancy would be nice, this would also cause the need for a new resource such as cotton plants or some other plant to give material to the tailor to make the clothes. Then when the beaver dies he takes he clothes with him so we need to keep making more

hats for beavers!
it's nice to see visually the different types of beavers you have!
easy to see who is doing what

scientist; science goggles
lumberjack: plaid aviator hat (google search : lumberjack hat)
water pump operator: blue colored baseball cap with a water drop icon
hauler: orange baseball cap with a crate icon
builder: yellow baseball cap with a hammer icon -

AnthonyI love the job dependent hat/vest idea, right now they all look the same and it goes against the personnality the devellopers try to give them.
A related idea is to give them small cosmetic differences. A cheap way to do that would be slight differences in size and colour palette, not enough to identify them easily, but crowds would be less jaring. -
09 Feb, '22
JexadoxId like the ability to customize it. such as "show district clothes" or "show occupation clothes" or stricty cosmetic clothes. perhaps you could customize specific beavers themselves?

GoldenkaaosHere's my idea for how we could implement cloth!
-Flax: plant/harvest with farmhouse.
-Textile factory: processes flax to make linen cloth+thread.
Possible cloth uses:
-Tailor: makes clothing (cloth+dye+thread). Clothing can be color coded by job/district or random.
-Build: Flags/banners (decor); hammocks (well-being); awnings (decor/shade for drought) -

ThothGod MergedWe'd love to see beavers with goofy looking hats! Straw hats, leaf hats, dandelion/sunflower hats - all produced from powered Hat Buildings! These hats could fulfill a need, provide shade to protect from heatstroke, or give a happiness bonus so the beavers work more efficiently! Plus style points d:)
*beavers wearing hats as seen in the Timberborn loading screen in attached images*
extra thoughts:
-Maybe the hats could "deteriorate"/are consumed over time (like books) so that the Hat Buildings consistently produce hats for the colony.
-Maybe production of hats is just one type of "Hat" item, but when the beavers wear one it assigns a hat corresponding to their job. Like farmers wear dandelion hats, lumberjacks wear leaf hats, etc.
-OR Maybe they are just randomly assigned hats with a variety it could be chosen from -

JI'm for clothes too. Maybe as a item made from reed stalks that improves beaver welfare score. A hatter for headwear and a tailor for clothes. Maybe a beavers job makes the clothes into a variant for that profession.

Dontbezealous MergedI would like to suggest the addition of some sort of visual uniqueness to beavers determined on the type of work they do (Such as Hats or Cosmetics). For example, Farmer Beavers can wear straw hats, Builders can wear hardhats, Scientist can wear a lab coats. So far (from my current progress) the only beavers that are easily disguisable are the hauler beavers who wear the brace on their back (which I do like).
I believe that these visual changes can greatly improve not only the look of the game (More pleasing to watch your colony and districts work), but will also help players have a better understanding as to where their beavers are focused on. You can see clearly see the division in labor from your districts or quickly determine if you have too much of one beaver type.
Overall, I just like the idea of having the small added visual changes to my beavers, It gives them more character other than just a different name from each other.
Thank you. -

Gnoll MergedSomeone mentioned beavers wearing straw hats in another post and I just... I NEED beavers in straw hats in my life. The folks tails are wearing them in their picture.
We've got happiness from basic needs... food water sleep.
We've got happiness from visual items like statues and monuments.
We've got happiness from activities like carousel and mud bath.
Folktales unique faction happiness modifier could be a hat aesthetician modifier. Straw is a byproduct of wheat, so maybe wheat fields can provide straw as well, and a little beaver tailor Shop could be a unique building.
The straw byproduct could also be used to create compost for both factions? -

gray MergedI love each and every one of the beavers in my computer. They do their jobs very well, work hard, and are trying to create a perfect society. They have their own names and it's easy to imagine them going through their beaver days and experiencing the beaver experience. However, the fact remains that they all look the same.
I think a beaver should be able to wear a hat if he wants to. He could wear a little straw hat while he works in the shallows picking spadderdock or a hard hat for his other job: getting injured in the robot factory, trying to make arms. Chef beavers could wear chef hats. -
15 Apr
MelColoured neck scarves, based on the category of job. Eg wood, farming, Science, advanced technology. Means you can still see the beaver's face and makes it obvious that the advanced tech jobs are more dangerous because those are the beavers that are always in the sick tent. Collars for the botts. Except, haulers still have their backpacks so they don't need scarves, lumberjacks have lumberjack shirts (because of course they do) and farmers have straw hats.

Crimlow1 MergedThought it would be cool to see uniforms for each specific building. Builders could wear a little safety vest and hard hat, Haulers would wear a sweat suit (lmao) and the farmhouse would wear a straw hat. I thought it would be a cool way to identify beavers while they work.
