Potential Issue Warnings (Alert for hunger or thirst, low supply, etc)
Hello there! I'd like to suggest a new game feature which notifies the player of potential problems before they arise.
Examples:
- Current food production is too low to support population! Plant more crops or add gatherer flags to increase food supply.
- Average thirst level is below 50%. Increase water storage to prevent beavers dying of thirst!
- The housing shortage is causing birth rate to slow down! Add more lodges or barracks to continue population growth.
- Log supply decreasing! Lumberjacks are chopping down trees faster than foresters can plant new ones.

Alec MergedPlay a short sound when beavers die. On 3x speed, it is easy to lose half of your beavers when water or food is out without realizing. Also, have the corresponding box on the top bar flash when you are running out of that resource(say <10, or scale it based on number of beavers)

Jcheung Mergedi'd like to exclude death from old age and explosives from that audio alert though

Chris S. MergedI would certainly agree with the Playing a short sound on ANY beaver death. When playing the Iron Teeth Faction, I find myself micromanaging the breeding so I don't fall too far behind on production during the Wet Cycles. And if I was busy managing a new project for another district, I could (and have) miss the Death by Old Age message for quite a few beavers. With the Folktails, that isn't too much of a problem, as I'll have a working adult in about 5 days, but for the Iron Teeth, if I'm not on top of their breeding patterns I could be looking at a 9-10 day turn around for a working adult (5 days in the Pod and 4-5 days as a child). That's is a lot of production down time that could cost me when the drought hits.
So yes, Please consider this suggestion! Maybe make the Notification sounds be Toggled so players can choose whether or not to receive them? -

Tom MergedThis is so important. I lost half my population because I forgot to unpause water pumps after a draught. There was no reason for those poor beavers to die. They had a flowing river with plenty of water around, they just weren't pumping it because their overlord was negligent. The deaths of those beavers, many of them children, will weigh on me heavily for at least the next hour TT_TT
In all seriousness though, it was a huge bummer to see my population cut by more than half because of something that was so easily preventable. This would really help! Great game, btw :) -

Octa MergedAdd a graphical warning if a district runs low on food and water. Lack of one of them results in beavers dying, so these are the most critical ressource sections.
- This would save time, because you won't need to monitor the storage manually of every district
- A warn level opens a time window to take preemptive actions
- Should be a configurable limit per district, because large and small districts need different amounts of storage
- Warning could in the lower left corner: "A district runs low on ressoures"
- Warning could be in the top ressource view: Have the ressource field highlighted if in the global overview or in the district overview of the district overview of the affected district that went under the threshold
I would not make this available for building ressources or specific food types. This adds too much micromanagement and would turn this into a automatic ToDo-List generator. This is meant to be a last ditch alarm to prevent a district to die off if not watched -

Simon Boucher MergedI would add a point associated with starving and thirsty beavers too... notification so if you are working on another part, they don't all die.

JY MergedWhen I have multiple districts, I occasionally have an issue where one resource unexpectedly runs out. I usually only find this out when I start getting "... has died" messages. It would be great if beavers are hungry/thirsty and do not have access to food/water so I can start trying to fix the issue. When I was playing last night, the water level dropped just below the minimum level for my water pumps in my second district, and I did not notice until beavers started dying. By the time I was able to do anything about it, nearly 3/4 of them had already died. If I had a warning when the water ran out, I could have easily sent plenty of water from another district.

Rusty MergedIt would be nice to have a notification that, ideally like an assistant who pops up and says "your water supplies are getting quite low." The game could watch both the absolute value and the rate of depletion to let you know. It could do this for water and food, perhaps also logs.

Metrick MergedI accidentally deleted my only district. The result was that all my beavers were stranded and starved to death (didn't notice the deletion for a long time, still don't know when I did it).
I think there should be an explicit warning for this. -

-

LapillusFor accessibility reasons it would be nice for there to be both visual and audible alerts that users can toggle one, the other, both or neither for the above mentioned situations and maybe beginning and ending of droughts.

Fluddy MergedWhen in a district the food or water lowers under a certain number, which you can adjust at the district center, then you get a warning like: "In District x the water and/or food is getting low." down where the other warnings are. I had whole districts die off because I didn't notice on time that there was a problem.

Peter Hazlewood MergedI definitely start to struggle, in terms of management, when I have multiple districts across a wide map. It's impossible to see everything going on across a large map and we can only see the map-wide resources when clicking on a building from that district. If I'm working on District A, I'm not currently able to see what's going on in District E. So...what would be nice is if you could have automatic or manual warning triggers for a district e.g. running out of food/water, flooding ongoing, mass deaths, population massively declining.

Graham Morgan MergedI left my colony to make a cup of tea and when i came back, they'd all died.
My suggestion is a "Near extinction event" warning that force pauses the game until you click the warning.
Or after all beavers have died, a fade out to an extinction screen lamenting how the beavers have followed in the human footsteps a little too much rather than the game continuing to play. -

Eric Mergeda general pop up for the game when a district is having thirst, starving, or is flooding might be a good idea.
As well as maybe something on how the buildings work. They aren't as intuitive as you'd think. -

Ince MergedSometimes, as I usually tend to focus on the buildings and ongoing projects, I forget to check the food/water situation and this has already resulted in several times where I almost lost my whole colony
I think it could be nice if you guys added a warning message (Just like the one for droughts) that notifies the player whenever the food or water levels are dropping at a significant rate, this could help the player to act in time and prevent the crisis before any beaver dies -

Ax MergedUntil all my beavers are about to die, I never know that I'm low on water or food. Making the storage slightly more visible until you build all over the top of it, was a nice touch, but it's not enough to save my colonies. I HAVE to play at the fatest speed at all times, because it takes so long to make considerable changes. I need a warning system.
