Option \ toggle to remove full storage warnings and building statuses (hide alerts)
The warning icons for full warehouse or water storage should be modified to be less strident. As shown in the attached image, some of my water barrels and warehouses are full, but neither is really a cause for immediate concern, like a non-functional building might be. I suggest that an option be added to either change the color of these icons to something less alarming, like yellow, or add an option on each building (or a general setting) that turns off these kinds of warnings. Thank you!

DojandoI had a similar request:
Change / Disable Full water Tank Symbol on top or option to disable them. Those red circles are so annoying and not really useful.
At the very least make them blue suggesting that everything is fine and not red which indicates that something is wrong like a full storage. -

Nikachu92I'm having the same pet peeve. I currently have 2 warehouses. One tends to fill up first due to it's location while the other is still very much empty. The alert of the building ruins the aesthetic as it's not really a concern unless all the warehouses are full.

Mk23I second that, is a big issue. I like to look at my town as I built it, not as some sort of schematic with "funky" icons. Thats the whole point of play for many - myself included. Icons are ugly and ruin the looks (any "over-the-top") icons like that)
I suggest you add option to remove these icons. Because yes - many people will need and want them, but to those who don't want, please add an option to turn them off. It shouldn't be too hard to implement. -

ArkaladinI strongly support an option to suppress icons hovering over buildings, preferably on a per building basis. Perhaps add a "Building status suppressed" alert status to these buildings that would appear in the alert message box on the bottom-left like other alerts so that buildings with suppressed status icons can be located.
Alternatively, a simple global setting for enabling or disabling the hovering icons would be nice for taking screenshots or just enjoying the aesthetics. -

JamesI would rather their be icons when the buildings are "empty" rather then "full" or at least add some other dynamic signal to the building itself. I strongly support this to be under consideration

StoversI'm not sure of a quality of life change for this, but I would also like to see those red full icons not be there. I should have double checked before writing this, but how about only when clicked, or in the description itself when targeted it would say "FULL" in bold. Those icons hide the well made graphics.

mjevansWarehouses generally need an overhaul for handling storage.
0) Default to allow none, and show an icon like the 'worker can't do anything' icon jobs have when workers are blocked.
1) Hard maximum values, that are respected! I'd actually be able to build the larger warehouses and partition them for use by multiple kinds of things.
2) Per-item type alarms. Alarm when over X? Alarm when under Y?
3) If the stored quantity is over the allowed quantity, try to drain the difference (make it a priority for hauling or use by consumers). -

Julian MergedPaused, Flooded, Lacking Power, Full Warehouses - of course while these indicators are crucial in the early game, by the time your colony is thriving and you're free-building for the beauty of it, most of these statuses are intentional, or known and not bothersome. It would be a nice to have an option to hide/reveal the icons via hotkey or a discreet button so you can enjoy the view without a dozen red warning dots floating over your city. If this option exists, I haven't spotted it yet. Amazing game!

Julian MergedOriginal poster here - I've since discovered "Ctrl + H" to hide the whole interface, which is probably what people use for screenshots, and is helpful. I thought at first that this was my answer, but since you can't exactly play the game without the UI, the suggestion to toggle icons only may still have merit (albeit super low priority).

EricI'm not 100% this fits here, but I was thinking more of an overlay system for all these building warnings that could be toggled on or off. I love how beautiful this game looks and just want to enjoy it most of the time.

TanypredatorI believe there should be no warning on "water storage full" at all - water storage full is not a problem, it is how it should be!

MKDI would love to be able to turn off/dismiss the "building full" alert. This is nothing to be alarmed about IMO, unless (as others have said) ALL of the buildings are full and it is causing supply chain or production problems.

robboticAgreed, the visual graphic cue of the water level and amount of logs in storage is enough to see how full those buildings are, the "full" icons on those are distracting and unnecessary.

Grey Kylia MergedMaybe i'm weird but i like to make storage buildings as bridges relatively early on to cross the river if i need/want to since it doesn't inhibit river flow at all. The only problem is that i will then have a constant red box in the bottom left warning me that the building is flooded and often not connected to a district, and its annoying.
Granted i could just not do that, but its intentional because i don't like to feel forced to get science, power, AND planks early on if i need/want to cross the river.
Math wise its the best since 1 science (12 logs), 1 lumber mill (15 logs), 1 power/water wheel (40/50 logs), and 2 sets of stairs (1 log, 4 planks). This all adds up to 69/79 logs, 8 planks, and some time OR:
We can use 30 logs for 2 storage to span up to a 6 tile wide river and deal with the red flooded storage thing. I would really like if i can store water grown food in flooded storage but that is for a different topic.
TLDR; pls give us a checkbox to ignore building w -

sunyudai MergedI would like this as well, because sometimes my designs have buildings that are intentionally flooded. For example, for FolkTales, since their water pumps only go 2 blocks down, I might have a 6 block deep reservoir wit ha pair of pumps at the surface, 2 pumps underwater two blocks below that, and two more pumps right at the lake bottom - so 4 pumps that are almost permanently under water except when the reservoir gets critically low (such as when I am running a Custom game with a possible 60 day drought...)
It would be nice to be able to say "Ignore warnings for this building" and turn that off. I'd also use this to turn off the useless "full storage" warnings. In my playstyle, that warning is never useful and is in fact mildly harmful (as it can hide issues with stacked buildings or distract form actual issues). -

Dogmairof Mergedwhile I totally support and upvote the check box idea,
I feel the reasoning behind it so far in the comments is "not as intended gameplay" I see it being more for having several small warehouses being full, knowing they are full and not being in a place to upgrade yet being a valid reason, as apposed to using flooded warehouses to build bridges. also seeing out of power signs over building in drought times, again knowing this is a thing, but not wanting to see the red box.
even just having an acknowledge check box, to tick once and remove the red box until it come up again option? -

Elibeaver MergedRight now, the screen is cluttered with red markings and windows of notifications and warnings;
in screen: no power/ full inventory
in windows: lack of power/ lack of material etc.
Many of those notifications are not worrysome and sometimes they even block the view of other windows.
suggestion to add option to close notifications. -

Michael Dammanif you set the desired storage amount below the maximum amount allowed for the building then the max capacity message will not appear. you can set a custom number. for example, I have my water tank set to 25 and will not exceed that level.
-
21 May, '22
Gin Fuyou AdminMichael Damman, no, that is incorrect, desired amount is not a max limit, and it will prevent warning only in specific conditions.

Vas MergedI would like to see an option in storage buildings to remove building full status. Or even reverse it to opt in to show the full status. Buildings like water tanks are -supposed- to be full, why do I need a bunch of red icons all over the map to tell me something is full when its supposed to be?
The way the game is set up right now, the only way to play is to max each building to one single resource, otherwise the building will fill up and stop any more from being added, so really, one storage building per resource in the game is required. This means a lot of red icons everywhere. Other suggestions have asked for this to be fixed, but for now, we need a way to remove the building full spam. -

Carl Stephen Chapman MergedCan you put an option in the menu to remove the 'Building Full' icon from appearing in the main game screen? All of my colony is automated to ensure everyone has everything they need but when I pull the camera back to look at my efforts all I see is a gloomy red fog of Avarice over everything I have built. Warehouses and storage tanks are meant to be full so why ruin my game telling me that I have done a good job? I am playing a 200-1000 day drought on Terraces so I need to play on max speed and everything has to be clockwork, this means that the 'Red Plague' doesn't interfere with my game but it does make it less pleasing to look at. Please reply [email protected]

CaramiaAll the red alerts make me anxious. And most of the time it is because something is working as intended - like two pumps, one for wet seasons, one for dry at different levels - right now one will always be shown with an alert. Same with full buildings, often they are full intentionally. When everything is "alert" status, nothing is, and you miss things you actually wanted to know. Maybe some kind of filter or toggle for different types of alerts? Or turn them off for specific buildings?

John MergedBasically, if you have something like a grill for potatoes, but you never have enough potatoes most of the time, you can turn off warnings from that building.
