Allow windmill to transmit power downward, or a rooftop windmill or vertical axis windmill
Windmill was a great asset for folktail but we would more likely to build it on top of building, but it seem it did not transmit power downward. Which make it hard to put on top of building
So I would like to suggest that, if we can't let existing windmill transmit power to building under it, then please add new windmill, a rooftop windmill
Another possibility is a vertical axis windmill that was solid top and stackable (as in image). So We could put it around the gap at the side of the building
Would be nerfed to only generate power from some direction of wind

Thaina YuText missing, a rooftop windmill, must be put on a roof (same requirement as roof) and will generate power to below building directly instead of the side

JoshIt would be nice if windmills "shares power with adjacent buildings" or had a power connection on each side rather than just a single power connection.

JYI like the idea of the windmill sharing power with adjacent buildings/buildings windmill is built on. Alternatively, a 90 degree down power shaft to connect an input/output vertically.

RyvreIf nothing else, if any buildings transmit power vertically then a windmill should IMO. It is confusing that a house, which has nothing to do with power, can transmit power vertically but a windmill can't.

M MergedWindmills (and other power generating equipment) should be able to pass power straight down via direct contact of the building they are on top of.

magermhVertical Windmill that pipes power down.

KorinThis, the image provided, could also be modified to a water variant that can be placed on the underside of platforms to power buildings using the water flowing under them.

ShmitzI would like to also extend this suggestion to IT engines when placed above another building.

Positronic_MatrixA windmill that can be built on top of a vertical shaft and deliver that power directly downward into that vertical shaft.

DeVex MergedI tried it simple and just put a windmill on the carousell. Seems like the energy connectivity does work upwards but not downwards.
Roboter part factories for example need to be on the same level to share energy, but not if they are next to each other but with 1 block difference in height.
