Upgraded Paths (Roads), pavement
I hope there will be a way to upgrade paths. Once upgraded, beavers will walk fast and get tired less. I very new to the game and I notice the lines on the path colored green, yellow and red (depending on how far will beaver walk away) when i click a certain structure. I not sure but I assume if its red it mean beaver get tired when ever they reach that certain range so Ithink an upgraded path where in baver will get tired less when ever they walk through.
Although I am hoping for it to be added but I'm not sure about it because it will beat the idea of having multiple districts.

Jcheungred just means you're nearing the district distance limit from the center, but i do support upgraded paths

Ringgeest11 MergedPaths are good, but they could be better with the addition of technology*tm.
A trademark of city builders are of course the roads. While the addition of carts/rails/pipes will make for great additions, the core system will always be roads. This is where our furry friends start their adventures on and what they will be clapping those feet on whilest on dry land.
With the tech tree in mind, it would be nice if we could upgrade roads to new tiers that allow for faster movement speed. The current paths in game are free and instant, which are great and should remain that way (in my humble opinion). When we have gotten over the initial hump of early-game and move towards mid- and end-game, increasing density of the production takes priority. Sometimes you still have to go wide tho, with fields of wheat and maple trees.
This is where Roads built out of, for example, planks or metal blocks with higher movement speed would be a great addition. This provides a late-game incentive to upgrade -

senior Mergedroads that take construction. like 1-3 planks per road and double the build distance on road and improvement to walk speed

DraythixHonestly, I would love it if some of the upgraded roads were wider so that the beavers weren't constantly clipping through each other as they walk :)

Estell#0253 MergedRoads can be upgraded, with a cost, of course, to gain several buffs. most notably movement speed: it can be done in stages, for different materials in early/mid/late game, and different stages of buffs. also they can be improved ofr a specific target or need: better roads for Golems (metal blocks?), for beavers (treated planks?), water road, that of course, can be used only under water and will add a massive speed buff.... but will add a debuff if the water will dry. there something that also can be improved for stairs, bridges, and even depending on the altitude. the possibility are huge.

CrisisSDKI think using treated planks to upgrade paths to increase movement speed would be a great idea. Cobblestone paths don't seem to fit that well with beavers in my opinion, but treated planks seems to make sense to me.
An increase to distance for pathfinding building would also be appreciated, but the speed buff for them would be enough. -

Greycethetic MergedA couple of other people have suggested similar things, but I've gone all-out to design it's implementation. Each tier would further extend the beavers reach from the district center, and increase their walking speed bonus.
First tier Paths are the regular dirt ones. They are unchanged.
Second tier are Wooden Walkways, which can be placed directly over existing paths. These are made with 1-2 planks each, to be a substantial commitment without being unrealistic for mid-game play.
The next two tiers would be locked behind Dirt Excavation. Dirt excavators can now be set to collect Dirt, Clay, Limestone or Gravel.
Tier 3 is Bricks, Bricks would be made with Clay and Water in a Potter's Hut (new building) & put in a Smelter/Grill to cook (unsure which would be more appropriate)
Tier 4 is Pavement, which would require making Cement by mixing Limestone, Water, and Gravel, as well as dynamiting the tile, putting in a wooden frame, and waiting for the concrete to be poured & set. -

KorinI think path blending should be included in this; I'm sure players have noticed that when paths are placed side by side, they have a grid pattern with holes between the paths. The paths should merge/blend together forming a wider path.

EkinDiscovered this site after posting my suggestion on the steam forum. Upvoting and adding my take here in the comments.
I think locking road upgrades behind the happiness system might be a good idea. I had pretty much the same idea as Greycethetic otherwise. His might be a better idea, maybe some mine might be useful to the development team as well. Keep in mind the numbers are essentially just placeholder, I know nothing about balancing.
15 Happiness - Plank roads: 1 plank per unit, 15% move speed increase to beavers on the road
20 Happiness - Metal roads: 1 metal block per unit, built on top of plank roads (or on soil/dirt roads for an extra 1 plank per unit), 25% move speed increase
25 Happiness - Treated plank roads: 1 treated plank per unit, built on top of metal roads, 35% move speed increase
30 Happiness - Interdam Highway: 1 plank, 1 metal block, 1 treated plank, 1 gear per unit, can only be built by bots, built on top of treated plank roads, 50% move speed increase -

Jamie CI think rubberized asphalt would be cool with an added tree that would provide the 'sap' to allow the beavers to make rubber. I used to run on these types of tracks years ago. They were great!

Cole Airoso MergedDirt paths could remain free, but perhaps you could build wood or metal paths for the beavers to walk on, and these might be asthetic or could give movement speed buffs.
