Float Valve

Managing water levels in lower streams can be a little tedious. Adding a float valve that you put into a reservoir dam to keep lower streams at a set water level would be really useful and prevent mass beavercide when you are distracted or AFK when a river supplying your settlement dries up.

yes. or perhaps tie this function in with the depth marker-depth marker + adjacent floodgate allows control maybe?

Setting on depth marker ... Set Adjecent float gate to level - x

for example set it to -0.10 so if the water is at 1.60 the float gate will be set to 1.50

small streams tend to be a bit unstable but it maybe be solved by the game engine instead of additional system.

That could be addressed by allowing to build levee ona dam. This way we could build a big dam with a hol at the bottom. Then just add a floodgate after the hol and we have a perfect system.
That should be easy to implement, satisfy this request and really game changer for complex constructions.

Any sort of hole in a storage vessel would allow that to drain down to that level, or otherwise equalize pressure. Think of it as a pipe between to vats.

A log float could use gearing to automate the adjustment of a release valve, just like simple 'high flow' toilet tanks.

I was thinking of something similar but for control of pumps and dumps. I'd love to be able to link a pump or a dump to a specific Stream Gauge with the ability to set rules to automatically stop or start when the gauge reading reaches a given level, in a given direction. Similarly it would be nice to be able to link a pump/dump to a specific tank, and start or stop when the contents of the tank reach a given level.

just like inside a toilet. control the height of the lower water levels.
so a floater to set the lower height and a floodgate inside a levee.
this is pure mechanics so it's not AUTOMATION.
