season specific commands (start or pause at drought) seasonal jobs
During dry season, I found there were a few good habits. For example, raising all dams once it starts to keep water for just a bit longer. At one district, I had emergency pumps at lower levels that were flooded for most of the time, except during long droughts. All of these required a manual command, until I just stopped doing it completely because it was too tedious and I had enough backup resources, but I still wanted to do it, because it's cool and feels like the right thing to do. I think it'd be cool if we could set certain things to happen, i.e. operate this facility only during dry season, or raise these dams once a drought has started, etc.

For example, you might want to automatically disable some Water Pumps or powered buildings during the dry season, and enable some extra Inventors to absorb the workers.

For example I would like my engine of the second tribe only to be running during the dry season (or my pumps only be working during wet season). Doing this manually every dry/wet season is a bit too annoying and have an automatic pause/unpause depending on season would be a perfect solution!
Also it should not be too difficult for players to use such an option for their game as it can be a simple grid below a building that you can press to automatically pause/unpause a building depending on the season! -

Eric MergedTo reduce micro-management, add checkboxes or something to automatically pause buildings in wet/dry season. For example, during the dry season you might pause some buildings that require power, and unpause some researchers to give those beavers something to do.

Freelancer-7 MergedI would like to see an option on the water pump UI to auto pause them when a drought starts. This could also be accomplished with a depth marker placed adjacent to the pump (as shown in the image) with the option to set the water level to pause the pump on the pump UI. Or both options! That would be great also.

JJ MergedI would like to have some kind of automated pause/resume on certain buildings based on draught. It gets boring to turn off certain pumps or power eating buildings when river stops moving and water gets low, moving the water workers into power wheels. Or at least implement mass pause/resume feature like you currently have on building priorities, making it bit easier.

Cr1t MergedIn most cases you should have enough water for the dry season and you need the Water for your Crops and Trees- Since someone doesn't want to pump all of the water out of the River during a dry season he shuts down all of the water pumps. With a large amount of Pumps this is a tedious process, so why don't add a button to some facilitys (maby even theese who us energy, since if you're using water weels you only have energy when the water flows) wich automaticly shuts down facilitys during a drought so the bevers don't suck off all the water and they can do other stuff.

"This building will run during [Season Drop Down Options: (All Seasons), (Wet Season), (Drought)] and during [Hours Drop Down Options (All Hours), (Work Hours), (Non-Work Hours)."
This way, production buildings that require power can be auto paused during non-work hours allowing what power is left to go to buildings like the merry-go-round or stop producing power like the engine. Could also make some jobs seasonal like water pumps that only run during the wet season, usually flooded pumps that only run during the drought or inventor's huts that only run during the drought. The default can be All Seasons and All Hours. -

because manually disabling pumps and enabling power wheels does not scale well over time at the moment. -

For example, I'd like to autopause my engine and water dump during the wet season, while someone might want to autopause all of their industry buildings during the dry season because they rely on water power. Or perhaps disable one of their gear factories, while not pausing their lumbermill, and auto-enabling their beaver wheel power in the dry season.
It would be a relatively simple thing to program (2 boolean variables on buildings, 1 or 2 methods to get the current season, and 1 or 2 methods controlling the pausing. And of course a bit of ui work to include the buttons) but it would be a major QoL feature for me! -

Thomas Klewe MergedThis is needed. Right now, i have about 77 water pumps on my level and to avoid drying out land, i have to turn most of them off during dry season. This becomes tedious and is not a fun part of the game. It would be useful for other buildings too connected to water wheels but mainly the water pumps. If you could assign a temporary job for the beavers in the seasonal paused buildings like science station or haulers it would be great but just an auto pause would make me enjoy the game much more.

Kristopher Kerwin MergedSeasonal Work Profiles: Select what buildings are paused or active during wet and dry seasons, as well as the # of workers that they have during those seasons. When it switches between those seasons, the game automatically switches between those settings; eg. perhaps water pump beavers will go instead to farmhouses to get crops out of the field before they dry out, or run instead to replace lost power at the manual power wheel? These sorts of changes should be able to be automated, and the user shouldn't have to be overwhelmed by too much code or a code-like interface.

Engine (iron teeth): I would be happy about a function that, if you tick the box (like: Prioritize Building by Haulers) , the motor starts automatically in the event of a drought and when it is over, it switches off again. Especially in the late game with 20+ engines and several districts it is exhausting to switch them all on and off by hand. Especially if you are playing in hard mode and the drought occurs every 7 days.
Tug posts (all factions): When a beaver dies, a beaver from a nearby tug post should automatically take over his job. It happened to me several times that beaver died of old age at the water pumps and the building was unoccupied for a long time. One of my entire districts died as a result xD

foisajfo MergedI think a good addition would be to make it so you can have some buildings (like water pumps for example) automatically switch off during a drought, so that you don't have to individually turn off every water pump whenever it stops flowing. Also I think a good building addition would be some form of storage for excess horsepower so that you can build it up with water wheels during the normal season and siphon from it during the droughts when the waterwheels stop turning.

Adam/ThePlumbum MergedSimple as it says in the title, this would be an option available to automatically pause or unpause a building during the dry season, nested into the building's options like the recipes - since some work will by its nature be seasonal (undammed farms, any industry served by waterwheels and in some cases, water pumps), it would save a lot of micro if we could set these buildings to automatically cease operation when they're useless - then the logical next step from there is to allow other buildings to unpause during the dry season to make use of this new workforce - probably research buildings but hey that's up to players.

When buildings go off the beavers become unemployed and therefore available again. When a building turns on it draws from the unemployed pool. -

Petr Bednar MergedAdd simple checkbox to pump for it to stop working in drought and start working when drought ends.
My usecase is that pump is on the same river that keeps my crops irrigated. I have water storage enough for a whole drought but not enough food stored yet to have a major production restart. This turned out to be major micromanagement nightmare for my oldest district which is not supported with big deep lake to balance out the the pumped out water and I need to manualy turn on and off 10 pumps.
