Let us change difficulty mid game (switch game settings on the fly)
So i played the demo and it was pretty brutal. So i started a fairly easy game this time around. But i've developed my beaver city pretty decently, so i'd like to be able to increase the difficulty mid game so droughts would last longer and longer. since the most i get now is about 8 days, which i can breeze through.
a 30 day drought on the other hand.. that would be a bit rough.. and would pose a challenge. But i want at least a fighting chance in the beginning with the easier start.
I'm a casual player so i'm not looking for a hardcore challenge.

ZarkI second this, I'd like to be able to change during a game. I often like adjusting the difficulty because I may have progressed to the point where the game is no longer a challenge, or perhaps I decided I need to tweak things back and have a relaxing playthrough. I hope more sliders will be added into the difficulty section, as I'd love to have the control for making some crazy climates! :D

Nick Hulse MergedBeing a sandbox game I think it could add an interesting end game play style to be able to change the preset difficulties that were set at the game creation.
If you've gotten a strong settlement on easy difficulty but would like to kick it up to normal or eventually hard+.
Also if you started on normal/hard but decided that your eyes are bigger than your food/water stores it would be interesting to be able to reduce the difficulty. This could save some beaver's lives rather than being forced to witness the results of your own actions: Mass Beavercide.... -

Wolfman MergedWhy not give us the opportunity to switch difficulties during the game? If doing so, it would not be possible to reach (maybe prospected) achievments for the higher difficulty level, but I'm sure that's no reason not to think about this.
It might be a way to give people the opportunity to enjoy the end game with higher difficulties while the beginning is too difficult for them. -

TTJ MergedI usually stick to normal difficulty but once my colony is fully developed I have the feeling that I stored enought water and other supplies to survive a longer drought. Therefore I suggest adding a button ingame that turns the next drought in an extra long one (as a singular event). For example there could be the option to "make next drought 50% longer" or "make next drought 100% longer". After that, drought length should switch back to normal, until I maybe want to trigger it again.

Alain MergedI love to play in easy mode, because it is chill and I can freely build whatever crazy thing I want without fearing too much for the lives of my beavers. However I'd love to be able to test how well my settlement can fare againt longer draughts, so I'd love to be able to change the settings mid-game (I imagine it would be easier when loading the game rather than with an ingame menu)

Ralf MergedMe play normally on hard setting.
It is fun and gives the game a sense,
but later can get annoying since drougths are just every few days starting.
So building further can get no more possible since alot of land dries up...
Me would like if you could influence the weather / climate from difficult to normal to easy and back.
A possibility would be if the beavers pray to the gods by supplying gifts at the temple so the change to normal / easy takes place.
And if you want a challange again you may have another temple were you make a fire or so..
Otherwise in the mean while just add a menu option to change difficulty;)))) -

RyvreWith the new injury system this is particularly needed since the buildings that cause injury take a bit to unlock and it is hard to find a good setting without being able to adjust in game.

Jamie CI found it to be quite easy to edit the save file to change much of what people want to do here.
A built in way to do this would be nice though. Such as increasing or decreasing the drought and normal day min and max values to an existing game. -

SombreventMy situation : Hard Difficulty, I survived the harsh beninnings, and after 60-70 hours, built a very nice place for 300 beavers (and 200 bots) to leave in. No one drop of water escape the map. But now, I'm in a situation where my beavers drink too much water and the repetitive drought and bad tides are so long that the 3 days of water supply are not enough anymore to resplenish the tanks.
I'd like to change the difficulty parameter to reach 400 citizens on the map : I already won against the difficulty, now, I'd like to juste keep building nice villages without starting from scratch on lower difficulty... I just don't have the water...
See the picture attached ? The middle of the map used to be flooded all the time until 200 beavers tier. -
