Remove path tool - brush to delete roads
Please add a dedicated remove path tool. The current method of clicking on each space and deleting is to long.
MOD EDIT:
in the meantime, you can use the delete tool to wipe out large swaths at a time.
if the path is on a structure (levee, platform, etc) you will have to target the railing
note: you can suppress the deletion confirmation by holding shift

Jcheungyou can use the 'destroy building' tool, just be veeery careful with that. though you can't use that tool if the path runs under windmills, so i do support this suggestion with all my heart.

KurtI agree, this would be handy. Currently, you CAN click the "delete structure" button on the task bar and highlight an entire road at once and delete it, but if you clip a building, it'll delete that too. So a "delete road" would be nice instead of lumping it in with buildings.

RyvreYou can delete many road squares with the delete building tool, but with a confirmation each time you use it. A delete roads tool with no confirmation would be great.

AgodashiI once tried to delete the path of an embankment and erased the entire embankment...
The ability to select only the path or delete only the path would be a relief to me! -

DojandoI am happy with the delete buildings button. A dedicated one only for paths would clutter the UI even more. Its already annoying that there is one deleting button for Buildings and Plants. Why not using one button/Tool for everything? Or a shortcut to quickly delete what you are selecting. Press Shift and click on the object you want to delete would spare the time of either selecting the right button or the trashcan symbol :D

Ugotsomemilk MergedWhile constructing some bigger buildings, you often need paths for your beavers to reach certain points. If you want to go to the next phase of your construction, you often have to delete these paths to make room for another building. The destroy building command is often way too aggressive and not only marks the path, but also adjacent buildings or the building beneath, so you have to delete the paths one by one manually in practice.
A dedicated "Delete paths" command would make that easier. ^^ -

StevecoleI have a better idea. Allow stairs to be placed on paths (deleting the path. Most of the deleted paths I do are to make space for stairs.

JesterI agree there should be a specific path delete tool. Especially for a game that has a layered landscape. Many other games attach a keybinding to the pathing that changes it to delete such as path tool + ctrl.

ThefirewardeIf I'm in the path tool and right click on a path, that should delete the path. More generally, I think right clicking to delete buildings that you've not spent resources on while you're in the build window for that building makes sense. Same thing for laying out gardens and trees - right click to undesignate them. Finally, I should be able to blueprint a path to be built by dragging a path through resources. That should auto flag those gardens/trees for deletion and place the path once they're gone.

Grant MergedI noticed it with the platform, but probably true of levees and dams, but it's not very easy to click a path for deletion on one of those structures. The cursor highlights the whole structure unless place very carefully

Dactrin MergedSuggestion to add a button to only delete paths. This is especially useful if you have paths atop platforms, these are tedious and require precision to remove manually without marking the underlying structures for deletion.
This could be placed right next to the Delete Buildings button in the menu. -

Mel Mergedwould be nice to have a path delete button that can be dragged, so it doesn't bring up the 'delete structure' message for each tile and paths can be rearranged quickly.
would also help rearrange paths going across roofs.
(I keep clicking on the house bellow instead of the path.) -

palidine40 MergedI dont see the option to remove a swath of road with a paint brush or any multiple selection, neither in the game, nor in that forum thread. That thread talks about being Able to delete roads off of buildings that are being built.
1
The thread Claims that there's a tool for that in the demolition group, but the only things in that group are the option to destroy buildings, another option to destroy resources, and a third option to cancel the destruction of those resources. So I dont even think that That thread actually solved anythign it claimed to solve. -

Gin Fuyou Admin MergedI don't see how it doesn't, it shows usage of general demolition tool to remove roads (it doesn't matter if it's on roof or not), and if you still think it's not good enough (which has a point) it links to special tool suggestion.

P.Gamache MergedAdd a separate tool to remove Paths from platforms etc, to make it easier to remove paths from existing structures without worrying about removing the structure itself. This would make it easier to build on structures that were built to be temporary, but have since been reconsidered to be built upon.

BrotherAbasmon MergedI think we should be able to select exactly what we want to delete. For example, when trying to delete only paths with the delete buildings highlighting it deletes everything in those squares. Maybe also add a "levels of deletion" so you can delete 1-3 levels high-low. "paths only" etc.

Tajrsome of this is solved through the layer height selector. but i agree a path only delete tool would be mighty useful

Eric MergedAs the title says, right now paths are removed with the 'destroy building' tool, which can be a serious problem trying to target paths on top of buildings, and can result in accidentally deconstructing a dam segment or building. I think removing paths would work better as its own tool.

asperatology MergedCurrently in the game, any actions for paths are put in the "Paths and Structures" category button. This is the category where bridges and paths are placed in.
in order to delete paths, you need to click on "Demolish buildings and resources" and select "Demolish Buildings" to remove paths.
I would like to propose that the "Delete Paths" functionality be separated from "Delete Buildings", and the action "Delete Paths" be placed under the "Paths and Structures" category button.
There are no functionality changes. It's just a UI change, where everything related to paths can be differentiated out from the "Demolish Buildings" action button.
--------------------------------
Either that, or we need to update the tooltip message of the "Delete buildings" action button. It needs to state the following:
"Use this tool to delete buildings and paths."
See the attached image below, to see why it's confusing to new players sometimes.

MelIt would be very handy if you could drag to select a path and then hit delete to remove it. Perhaps it would make sense if you can only do this with the path tool selected. I think this would be more intuitive than a separate tool to delete paths, but however it's implemented it would be great to be able to delete paths more easily.

FergalSlight tangent, would it be possible to toggle the "you're demolishing a building" warning, or straight up remove it for roads. I couldn't care less if I'm deleting a zero resource pathway, and needing to dismiss the warning every time I make a path too long, or want to adjust it slightly is a nuisance

Hawkeight MergedSo say you have a long pathway underneath several scaffolds and such, and you want to get rid of it without destroying everything on top of it. The current game sometimes lets you get away with this but not always.
I suggest a destruction option that only destroys pathways so we don't have to destroy things piece by piece. -

Tak MergedTitle is pretty much self-explanatory. Destroying roads is quite terrible, because it takes careful selection, even when it is exposed on the surface, and if it is covered with platforms and such, it is just terrible job!
Please, just like rubble, add road-only delete tool which affect nothing but roads. Roads hits CPU and RAM usage quite heavily, and in late game, sometimes we have to clean unnecessary roads. But without such tool, large-scaled road destruction becomes really hard chore. -
