Set Desired water level for Water (Fluid) Dumps and Mechanical Pumps
At the moment I can think of very few situations for using water dumps, since the water output is so inconsistent. Making the dump stop at a settable water level should allow for lots of new ideas and strategies around water management

Thaina YuForgot to post this suggestion but I want it too
I want to have ability to put water dump in the existing river I have contruct the dam. And set it to refill to 0.5 or 1 level lower. So that it will stop in wet season when the dam was filled with water(at -0.5 level) and start when level of water dropped in dry season
But on the other hand there was also this idea that overlapped

And if it about consistency I have suggest this

KibblesnbitsAn add-on to this might be to make the water markers nameable, then add the ability to pair the water dump to the marker, allowing monitoring and setting of a maximum height limit

TweelichtThis would be very helpful in draining a polder, a game play i'm thinking about. (i'm dutch:P)

ZeirlynnYes. Currently the dump keeps dumping when the water level is 1.0 (referring to a 1-tile-deep pool), making it flood onto the surface around it, which for some reason causes instant-shut-down!!! of whatever building gets just a little bit wet. I'd like for the dumps to only fill to, say, 0.8, then stop so it doesn't flood things around it.

Voidseeker MergedWhat if, when you built a Stream Gauge near/next to a "Fluid" Pump or Mechanical "fluid" pump you could set a max height value which would automatically prevent the nearby/adjacent pumps from exceeding/"Overflowing" whatever your pumping the water into?

VillskapThis would be very useful for automating irrigation over changing terrain levels, as you can put a mechanical pump sticking over the edge of the terrain height change but set it to 1 depth output so it doesn't overflow. Pumps already have a depth limit for how much they will take, makes a lot of sense to control output depth as well.
