Archimedes Screw - Ability to Move/Pump Water up a slope.
There have been many chats about water pipes and aqueducts, but would be great to see this coupled with a mechanical pump that moves water at an angle. Screws could be 'chained' together for higher elevation. The longer the screw, the more power consumed. Could be paired with intermittent power (such as wind mill). Could be paired with a reservoir to store water in the drought. Could run backwards for a reduced power output, like dam power storage/output.

joeThis is such a great idea; fits perfectly with the theme and is suitable as endgame content

Ciber MergedCurrently if we want to move water to a higher elevation, our beavers have to form a manual bucket brigade. This building would be like a pump and a drop point combined into a single building. I'm thinking it would be balanced best as a powered building with 1 worker that is 1x2x2, with the entrance on the second floor so it can be built in as part of a levee.

Chameleon777The water dump pretty much negates the need for this. Pump it low, dump it high.

Kolja MergedWhy is there no pump in the game? Or an Archimedes screw? Or does the other factions have them?
And then of course there should be one that works with power. A electric water pump to get water on higher levels would be something I would spend thousands of research points :)
Or it could be like a noria, automatically run by a water wheel. -

SirMichael AdminI prefer this as a way to raise water to a higher level. Either beaver spun or powered, it could be a slow way to raise water by one level. Meaning it would not be over powered, would add good graphics, and would allow getting water up a level. They could be daisy chained to raise it higher if needed.

EricYou would have to make sure you can't make a perpetual motion machine.

YamabiibaaCould also have leakage that reduces efficiency the longer the sequence of screws gets, effectively limiting the height water can be lifted (in one run), if that is deemed necessary for balance purposes.

RobD MergedMade of logs, gears and planks, and requiring power to crank, the Archimedes' screw can be built from an existing reservoir of water, and turned to provide water to an uphill location.

SapioitAlthough you could technically use beavers to move water up in elevation to a water dump or more, I do agree that we need the option to move water using mechanical power. Maybe even have it as one of the 2-3 defining features of a third or fourth faction.

AndrewI like the idea, but wonder if just adding pipework or plumbing would make more sense especially given the components already incorporated into the game. I think this idea makes a lot of sense if some kind of penalty or challenge system is added that provides setbacks/penalties for using the more efficient but more damaging wood burning or if tiered up coal burning or if the well/drilling system is implemented and oil can be used and cause damage to the water systems, arable land and health problems for the beavers, as well as fire risks if the fire hazard system is implemented. The benefits of course being that the production you can get from it producing steam for you and other technological advances that allow for much more aggressive progress that comes with huge risk and devastating consequences.
