Make replacing path with stair or gates easier (build over roads)
When I want to replace a path with a stair, I have to remove a path before putting a stair.
It is handy if I can simply put a stair on an existing path and it will be removed automatically before the stair is actually placed.

Verduisont MergedAllow building of district door on existing path.
Allow destruction of district door wihtout removing path.
Can be good to also keep possibillity to remove district door and path in the same time. -

Daniel MergedIt's not uncommon for me when redoing a piece of pathing to put stairs somewhere that I already have a path build. It's extra work to destroy path, then place stairs. Seems like the stairs could just be 'buildable' on the path right away, and replace it.
I'm not sure how the engine is coded, but to be extra specific - there are already entities in the game where 'building over' is possible (like tree stumps). -

noisyPitta MergedSince rope bridges and stairs both connect to paths when you set it up right, would it be possible to make them able to be placed on the path. For instance, in the attached image, I wouldn't be able to place a stairs on the highlighted tile, since the path is there. I think it would work better if I was able to place the stairs here and it would simply remove the path, seeing as the stairs automatically have a path anyway. Same goes with the rope bridges.

Chandarin MergedHaving to go back and delete paths to build as building or plant a crop just seems unnecessary. Selecting a building zone that overlaps a current path should bring up a confirmation window warning you what you are about to do, just like when you delete a path anyways. This would be especially helpful with stairs, for example, but also for new players who get frustrated with remembering where everything is.

Jesse MergedI saw this buried in a comment somewhere but not actually posted. It's one of the biggest things I wish for on a regular basis during a play-through. I'd like to be able to simply pop a district gate on top of a path without having to delete the path first, or vice versa.
I'm moving districts and district borders around quite a bit to achieve different goals (big builds or clearing land) and it would simplify the process a lot if I didn't have to delete paths every time I want to place a gate. Similarly, if I want to remove a gate and replace it with a path, it would be nice not to have to hit delete (obviously it would only work if I'm not trying to put the path between two existing districts, where a gate belongs). -

tibbakoi MergedIt's irritating to have to click so many times to demolish building, then click the path, then click back to build district gate, then click in the gap I just made. Can the district gate be allowed to be built on top of a path and convert it?

Andrius Chamentauskas MergedWhen covering large area with explosives you have to add additional paths because beavers can't build further than 10 tiles from path. Then you place your explosives and wait for area to be covered. Once it's covered you now have to delete some paths and place explosives into empty tiles. Then delete some more & place some more until you cover the whole area. It's very annoying to do, so would be nice if you could simply place explosives on top of paths or range limit would not apply to explosives.

Boflar MergedWhen you try to build a bridge it will not lock onto the tile if there is already a path there, Idk if it is intentional or not that the rope is its own locked-straight path but it would be a small qol change for it to be built on top of paths so we don't have to fidget with selecting the path tile on big structures

ChrispyK412 MergedIf you have already laid out a path on a tile where you need a stair, the stair should automatically clear the existing path. Currently you have to manually remove the single tile of path.

JimJust.. always build over paths.
It may have been important when you had to wait for beavers to construct paths, but now its just more clicks to work around things.
Build over paths. No confirmation dialog. For the one time I mess up, I can just build again. -

Ryan Hatt MergedIt would be really nice if the building tool would allow for placing levees on top of levees that already have paths, and then automatically placed a path on top of those levees.
Ideally this would work with any building that supports having a path on top of it. The preview could be shaded yellow similar to buildings with power transfer points that are blocked. A pop-up could be added informing that the build interferes with paths, and then asking if we want to delete the paths, move them to the top of the new building, or cancel the build.
This would save a lot of time on large dam projects and general construction stuff. -
