Allow building objects like stairs on roads and auto remove road tile
When I create a path to a floor level above I draw the path to the cliff and then try to place a stairs on it but it is not allowed and I have to remove the last tile of the path to make space for the stairs.
It would be convenient the game would remove the path if we place objects like these on them.
Or there could be a modifier key that removes infrastructure (paths and log drives etc) when placing new buildings.

Gin Fuyou AdminOh, yes, wanted this one to be filed, I think there were some suggestions like that but either too specific or too broad, but I might have missed one.
Stairs and gates should remove paths unconditionally. Other thing, yeah probably with some modifier key being hold.
At some point during demo all buildings removed paths and it was also not very convenient mixed approach should be the best. -

P_A_Rivers MergedInstead of having to delete the last segment of trail by a wall or building, allow stairs to build on/replace the block of path.
Great work. Love the game. -

KevinMore uses for automatic removal / replacement: I would like to be able to replace a path with a district gate or replace a district gate with a path. This would make relocating a district gate two actions with two tools instead of four actions with three tools.

TVBEAR Mergedplease allow construction of buildings, stairs, etc to break or over lap over road instead of manually deleting road before placing buildable.

Lachlan MergedI would like to see the ability to build on top of paths, which would automatically delete them underneath, i.e. I don't have to go and delete the path before building. Maybe a confirmation message to confirm paths will be deleted?

Mithmort+1,000,000! Stairs, district gates, dams, levees, all buildings, decorations ... anything and everything requiring removal of path tile(s) prior to placement of another object could just auto-clear the path tile(s).
+1 to with or without a modifier key as appropriate.
+1 to it would be good to give a warning (in the manner of the "construction site is too far" messages) for newbies and forgettees since of course path removal can impact overall pathing/district reach.
+1 to auto-replacing district gates with path tiles as well, though on this one I'd suggest definitely with a modifier key making it that much more intentional thus harder to mess up one's district boundaries.
This could be a huge QOL change for us wranglers since there are no resources used / recouped and it's just wrangler clicks -- versus beaver power -- to remove path tiles and district gates before placing new objects there's no game-play component that would be altered here other than saving us a zillion clicks. -

Andrius MergedUsing explosives in large areas is annoying since you need to have paths nearby for explosives to be placed. Once you put all the explosives in, you have to then slowly remove the paths and fill in the gaps. It's annoying and could be automated by simply allowing explosives on top of paths and allowing beavers to go through placed explosives.

Randy MergedSmall thing. I like to plan out some of my road networks ahead of time and I currently have to delete a piece to add a gate. it would be great if it could be placed directly on the road as well.

klkMan, the number of times I've had to go back and delete a part of a path is just awful. Please implement this, especially for stairs.
Thank you! -

Aaron Mark Mittelmeier MergedThis is a small QoL thing but, it would be awesome if, even if there were a path in place, that I could place stairs there (without having to manually destroy the path first). If the intent is 'stairs' we know 100% that it will still be a path, too. So, there's no reason not to allow the interchange of one path (lateral) for another (vertical).

YANNI MergedMaybe have a warning pop up with "This will replace the path Y:N?"
It would make building mega projects much easier as you wouldn't need to switch tools as often ... -

JamieWhen I saw this I immediately wanted to upvote it. Then I imagined building dense residential zones and there is a potential problem with stairs placed at right angles to the direction of a connected path not connecting the building. I decided that, for me, learning to leave a space before a cliff solves the problem well enough and I would rather not have to replace auto deleted tiles when my design doesn't work. I would still support this if tiles were only deleted when the stair was in line, and not at right angles to the direction of a connected path.
