Tutorial - where's the water?>
I was playing tutorial. Trouble placing the water pump, finally realized the intake needs to hang over a lower level (i was thinking it was a groundwater well). Ok, placed it, built it, but didnt seem to help the thirsty beavers, who all died. Try again. When it started this 2nd time, this time there's a river flowing by (was not there the 1st time.) Good. Tho as i proceed, the river disappears. Dang, So i hit the escape key to again return to main menu, and suddenly the river appears. I don't know what was going on, but it had me the beginner quite confused.

Zam! AdminThis is a very valid point.
The tutorial as it is right now has not changed much since the early demo and will most likely be updated and upgraded as the development goes on.
Since the game is in Early Access right now, all core mechanics may change before the final release, so rework of the tutorial may not happen till the dev team decides they will no longer make any major changes to the game mechanics. -

RebeccaI came here to report this issue as well. When in the "Water pump placement mode" the water no longer looks like water, it looks like grass, so there appeared to be no water on the map. It should be clearer where the water is while you have the tool selected. Understandable that it will be one of the later/ last things to fix!

YasueNothing indicated WHY I couldn't place the water pump and for all I know, this functions like a water pump for a well. There was no visible water near my town center, so I moved all over the whole map trying to find anything. Water didn't appear in any of the rivers areas until after I accidently found a spot that allowed the pump to be placed. That took so long my beavers died before they could build the pump, right after I added paths to it. Frustrating.
I understand that it's still in development, but a good tutorial is where you make the first impression, even if a game is in beta. A tutorial with this kind of flaw will lead people to think the entire game is bugged. Add a description that is has to face/overhang water in the tutorial box, make an obvious state-change using color in spots it can be placed, and/or add a tool tip with a reason it can't be placed. Maybe disable or slow down beaver death until the players at least get out of the tutorial?
