Demolishing resources from above - delete, clear, remove trees tile below
One thing very frustrating about demolishing resources it is that beavers can do it only if they are in the same level.
For example : I want to construct something which will need a plateform to be construct because of a hole, but there is a tree in this hole, so I must must use dynamite in the tile beside, then a stair to be able to access it. And if the hole is 2 levels or more below, so a lot more dynamite and stairs...
The idea is to be able to demolish resources just like beavers can construct buildings from higher place or just one level below.
The picture joined show a custom map (Great canyon) where there is a lot of trees in holes. Just imagine the use of dynamite to access them, demolish them in order to be able to construct there.

Chris MergedIt would be nice to be able to remove / destroy trees from at least one block above. Was trying to build stairs down from a ledge but was blocked by trees and saplings I could not have my builders remove.

Adam MergedCurrently you can build multiple squares lower than you, but you cant chop wood 1 square beside/below you. (You can also place explosives one step up and across from you.)
I feel you should be able to harvest or demolish one steep down and across from you.
Currently you have to find an empty spot to build steps, or blow up some ground to allow steps to the heavily wooded areas before you are able to cut them down or demolish them. -

_alphaBeta_ MergedThe existing vertical build mechanics do not seem to apply to "mark resources for demolition." In the attached image, beavers are unable to demolish these bushes in order to complete the staircase. Expected that the bushes would be removed from one level up like any other build action in that space.

_alphaBeta_ MergedI still feel resource removal should work like other build actions as far as elevation differences go. I had three instances on the terraces map (all before explosives were available) where the natural bushes or trees had grown right up to ledges. This rendered large areas of valuable land inaccessible. or would required elaborate staircase construction just so the land could be accessed from the side or below - to remove a bush. Seems silly to have to either resort to dev console or draw paths when starting a new game (to reserve certain tiles and/or limit the expansion of natural resources).

Luke MergedWhen clearing natural resources like trees and bushes, your beavers need to be on the same level as those resources. But it's often the case that you need to clear a tile in order to place a staircase to access that lower level. Beavers should be able to clear a tree from an adjacent tile, regardless of current altitude.

KyleI agree with this for sure! Not being able to demolish below you can make it difficult to get down, if not impossible without Dynamite in some specific circumstances.

TTJ MergedAs you can see in the screenshot some plants are marked for deletion. They are well in range of the district center but no golem comes to clean the first plant away. This is however needed to create an empty building space for a stair. The golems have nothing else to do, as this is an almost empty district, just meant for expansion.
Maybe I overlooked something, but this seems like a bug to me. I made sure, that the very fist plant is marked for deletion. Before this situation, golems already managed to clean away some trees before the step goes down (i.e. the last three way tiles in the screenshot). Unfortunately I had to move my district center in between, but I already tried unmarking and marking the plants again. -

Fram MergedDandelions should not prevent construction. This was a bit of a problem when I wanted to build a long dam, but had to build extra stairs just to get to the dandelions in order to remove them. If the builders can remove the dandelions, and they can build levees from atop an adjacent levee, then they should be able to remover the dandelions from above. Dandelions should not prevent placing buildings either.

PouffyPlacebo MergedRan into a problem where I couldn't build a staircase down a hill because it was FULL of trees. Would be nice to have the option of destroying (not harvest) plants that are in the way of construction.

yogurtRequiring dynamite to clear out bushes or trees that block a ledge 1 z-level below seems like a mismatch in progression. What dynamite provides to the player is the ability to build new water channels. This is on the same basic level as just building stairs. It's not only inconsistent with building mechanics, it's also inconsistent with the fact that beavers can retrieve items from demolished buildings 1 z-level below.

GreenKnight1315 MergedI've been in a situation, where i was building a 2 tall levy from on top of it, and had to build stairs downwards just to remove a berry bush in my way, then go back up to place a levy block from above. If youre able to build a levy from 2 blocks up, you should also be able to remove weeds from there.
