More comprehensive Farm and Forestry. Crop Density/Quality
This game has a simple farming/forestry system. I think it would be nice, if this system could be expanded upon.
Ideally, the player can keep planting their crops/trees like they do currently, with no change to game play, or they can reconfigure their farm plots that improves crop growth speed, and resilience against the elements.
Proposed game mechanics
- "Hedgerow" (Bush, Birch, Pine) When the game detects this configuration, it adds biodiversity, and crop resilience to flooding, drying, and strong winds within a certain range.
- "Tree Density" (Maple, Oak) These trees should prefer being planted with lower density. If they are planted sparsely, their chestnut/maple syrup growth speed increases after reaching a certain "Tree age". If they are planted too densely, they won't grow taller with age.
- "Tree age" (All trees) Older trees grow 1 to 3 blocks taller, and produce more wood when cut down.
- "Canopy" Older Maple/Oak affect adjacent tiles. Provides shade, slows crop growth speed

ouwgto expand on this idea we could also add composting areas in which you could put tree leaves or rotten food to make plant food which would increase the growth speed of an area of crops/trees.
