Update 4 flood gate bug without mods. [merge pending]
I have a dam on the larger output from the water source on thousand islands; it is 3 tile tall and uses 2 groups of 4 triple flood gates; if the flood gates are set to 0.5 the water level is 0.75, but if the flood gates are set any higher at all (even just 1.0) the dam overflows. I have the same trouble when I rebuild the dam to have 2 groups of 6 triple flood gates. This seems to be a logic bug in triple flood gates.
It seems to act like the gate is fully closed if it is anything above 0.5

Jcheung Admindams/floodgates set on flat land where there is not at least one block of drop has a quirk where they pass 3x more water than they should. why do you have more than 24 cms flowing through that area anyways?
best advice i have for you is to make a weir. -

DemicusWhen the flood gate level is 0.5 or lower this dam maintains a low water level around 0.75 the entire wet season(about the 0.24 flow you mentioned), if i set the flood gates to 1.0 or higher to attempt to hold reserve water the dam overflows in a way i would only expect if the floodgate height was set to 3.0. Flood gate height setting is not supposed to affect flow unless water level is below the height of the flood gate.
This does not seem to be the intended mechanic.. -

Gin Fuyou AdminNope, pretty sure that's expected (just not intuitive) behavior. Build more floodgates, islands sources are very strong.

DemicusAfter watching this dam stable for multiple wet seasons the dramatic rise over such a small change in flood gates is... disappointingly counterintuitive.
The 12 floodgate dam above this one suffers the same issue.
Is there an explainer somewhere for how this actually works? -

Jcheung Adminyes, my first comment. falling water is supposed to be limited to 2.2cms, per devs. (we're not devs btw)
for some reason, there are ways in which you can pass 6.8 cms in some specific scenarios.
