Game startup hang issue
While initializing, timberborn froze and wouldn't move forward nor close. Tried alt+f4, ctrl alt del, alt tab, etc. Uniquely an issue I've never experienced before. The hung load up has completely frozen my ability to interact with anything on that display. I was able to alt-tab to another window and what is displaying changed, however my cursor seems to think timberborn is still the window on top on that display. I can't interact with any other windows on that display. This is an issue, as it's my main display and the display task manager loads to, so I can't even force end the process to hard crash the game, as I can't drag the task manager window to a different display or utilize it. All I have is the spinning circle windows cursor (on that display only), and a "transparent" frozen game screen I can't seem to exit. minimizing all windows with bottom right corner hotkey unsuccessful. Had to restart PC to force-close game to fix.

KalanegosI have the exact same issue. Only way to exit is to logout of the windows session or restart the computer.
Windows 10 with latest update, bought the game through Epic Game. -

RyvreI get this also at times, R9 390 GPU (8GB) and i5-6600 CPU (16GB). The log stops after "Initialized touch support" when it hangs but is otherwise identical to when it works it looks like. It stays on the blue circle when hanging but when not hanging quickly changes to pointer plus blue circle.

HolzeI also do have the same issue, cannot ALT-TAB to the taskmanager, only thing that is still working is the taskbar after Windows key was pressed and thus the only solution is to logout or restart computer. Closing the game through the taskbar does not work and cannot force close it though the taskmanager, as this cannot be accessed.
Specs: NVIDIA GeForceGTX 1080 (8GB) and i5-4690 CPU with 16GB RAM on Win10Pro; playing and bought the Game through Steam -

NickI have this issue when Alt-Tab out of the game too.
If you're using Windows 10, you can use Win-Tab to create a new Desktop/Workspace where you can access Task Manager to kill the game, saves a reboot.
Playing on Steam, Win 10 Pro. -

ShakesI have the exact same issue as described - happens almost every time I play. My solution is to open task mgr on my second display before starting timberborn. When the game hangs, I can still end the task but only if task mgr is on a different display. Also, the start menu button is clickable - if I forget to start task mgr, signing out will force the program to close and I can avoid a hard restart. Bought on steam, older Dell i7 laptop.
Edit: restarting steam fixed the issue for now. -

TicvikingSeeing similar symptoms, similar story. Safe mode appears to work for me but something is going wrong when
"
New input system (experimental) initialized
<RI> Initialized touch support.

Timothy Whitehead MergedAbout one third of the time, when I I start the game I just get a continuous circle before the title screen. I can open windows task manager, but it is behind the circle so can't look for the task to close it. Only way is to log out and back in again.

BaureoI have the exact same issue. Interestingly, when I boot up my PC, the first start of the game results in the described issue. Once I use the WIN TAB -> REBOOT solution, the second start of the game works flawlessly.
I bought the game through Steam and using the following hardware:

ChriggelAs of April 2024, this is still happening. The first launch went without problems and once the game runs, it runs without issues. On the second launch, the problems began, the game just hangs with a black screen and the blue circle loading cursor spinning. I somehow managed to start the game after several retries. Now I'm trying to play the game for the third time since I bought it, and I can't get it started at all.
Got the game on Steam, checking the local files for errors doesn't find any. Safe mode doesn't work either. I'm running W11 Pro 23H2, Build 22631.3296. Using an AMD platform, Ryzen 9 7950X3D on an X670E board. The GPU is a RTX 3080 Ti. The drivers are up to date.
