Add water locks for passing boats or rafts through dams
At later game one would likely want to transport more goods across districts. For game setting water transport is most obvious ones and few suggestions about that was already made. But dams could make it problematic.
So I suggest adding a special structure that acts as levee on sides, and have water gates on ends, that builds into dams and allow passing through, including different water levels. (some water will escape as side effect during passing)

AdamEven if a specific building was not added having pumps and pipe systems would allow this to be built and add creativity for water storage areas making the flood gates more useful on certain maps.

RyvreAnother option would be portage, maybe have two portage storage areas and the beavers unload, move the boat/raft (if raft, possibly deconstruct/reconstruct), then move the items.

Luke MergedHey! I bought the game a few days ago, LOVING IT so far!! But I doo have a few suggestions:
Beaver boat! It's a boat, goes across water for transportation, can hold maybe 100 items for item transport and maybe 5 ish beavers?
Next: I complety forgot what they are called in real life, so uhh, WATERUP is my new name. It's a thing that raises water upwards, you may be able to put a boat on it, and it raises the water so it gets up waterfalls. Sick, right? Also, maybe you can put it on land and it works as an elevator? That would be cool
I do actually have a diffrent boat alternative, too, it's the same but diffrent i guess? it still goes over water, but holds more beavers than items, so like up to 20 beavers but only 25 items? and one that holds 2 beaver but way more storage like 250 or even 1000. -

SniperKrizz MergedBeavers to be able to build boats, canals, and locks to be able to move resources in large quantities between districts.
Locks would be required to move the boats up and down levels, beavers would need to pull the boats along a tow path next to the canal, but over all, less beavers would be needed than the distribution post.
This would a later game improvement, that would also require water management, as locks would also move water down levels (as they do in real life) and therefore drain reservoirs upstream. -
