The game pace is slow
I'm not sure if this is partially related to the game's genre, but this game feels far too slow for an old veteran of RTS games. The building is great and it's fantastic to plan things out, but resource retrieval is far too slow to keep pace with what the player can actually do.

Gin Fuyou AdminDepends what you mean by RTS, Colony Builders can't be compared to something like StarCraft or C&C

Cam SaulI agree that pace feels fine. It IS slow for an RTS, but it's not an RTS. That's like saying Sim City is slow for an RTS.

LuckyI agree. I played the game for some hours today, always at full speed. I left it running while I went to yoga, ate, took a shower. When I got back I had enough science built up and items in storage so that I could just get some real momentum going, but then I had to wait for hauling and building that took days to complete. Maybe if there were upgrades to the haulers/builders. Backpacks or something to speed up the process, or lower the materials needed? Why wouldn't these brilliant animals have better technology applied to themselves?

Ed Hickman Mergedplayed the game for the first two hours, the pace is too slow in the beginning, I've had the speed on super fast forward the entire time just to see things happen, trees cut, food gathered, etc. once your village/city is built up wanting to dial back as there will be a lot happening but initially i didn't like having to "skip ahead", it just felt off having to fast forward to see progress, feels like skipping content, and watching the beavers turn into electrons buzzing around isnt fun to watch. i think the beavers are just too unproductive in the beginning. waiting a couple minutes for a log isnt fun. maybe you start with a few old beavers that have better harvest/gather capability to keep things moving initially then they die and young ones have to grow up to reach full harvest potential. and i think the young ones grow too fast. again the timing just feels a little out of tune if that makes sense.

DexThe pace feels too slow at the beginning for sure. To the point of it being almost boring. It is a great game and I can see all the promise in it though. Will give more feedback after more hours in the game.

TTJI agree. I play on normal speed most of the time because it annoys me to see beavers buzzing around on accelerated speed. But on normal it takes ages to collect ressources and build large structures. The only way I play this game is while listening to audio books, because it gives me some distraction and gives the whole game a meditative touch.
He game clearly has potential and I like it very much! But I guess the it would be more enjoyable if ressources were gathered, transported and built 2-3 times faster.
Maybe considerably increasing beavers' working speed over time by unlocking some technologies would be an option (e.g. carts for transport, fertilizer for faster growing and building tools for faster building)
