Add enemy factions and friendly traveller NPCS/NPC events.
Some enemies and defense mechanics would be really cool in this game!
Like maybe some factions don't like other factions so they will come and attack you and you can make traps, guns, a soldier flag outpost.
I would also like to be approached by said enemy factions whether it be for a truce or they surrender that would be cool. Having traveler NPC events would be fun, maybe a trader could come to your town and sell you goods occasionally and the goods change with each cycle. Maybe an NPC is being chased by the faction and you can choose to house them and then defend against a faction wave.
(Sidenote: I am loving this game!)

Brian NielsenI like this ideer of an enemy or foe. could be foxes or other preadetors you need to be on the look out for. dont just build a bridge an cross it all is good. But it could be like a pack of wolfes comming over your new build bridge at night and take one or to of your beavers. Beavers arent like violent by nature so they need to defend there teritory somehow. im thinking build a dam to flood the valley were the predetors are and wash them away..

Dont want the beavers to have any wepons or stucktures for killing others. leave them with there born arcitektural skills to defend against foes.

Logan Jones MergedThere should really be another thing to be aware of. As long as you can make it past the droughts (in normal mode at least) there is no challenge but if there was enemy districts or some kind of predator that would occasionally attack your districts and you had to build defenses (like tall walls, gates, or drawbridges) I think that would be something really awesome

VollfedI suggest some sentient wolfe-like enemies like gnols and make them guard metal structures or even have their own AI fraction. Not sure though if you want to implement fighting mechanics

LachlanCould have thieving factions and need to hire guards to defend the city from them - Could be connected with the shift work suggestion as well.

GaryI like the idea of enemy NPCs attacking and hastling the beavers. Agree with the above about foxes or wolves would be good choice
Would like to see some defensive buildings which could be build on a dam/platform or on the ground and then beavered (manned) by little archer beavers
