Clicking Stopped Working - problems with mouse button control input
Repro:
One reproducable way is any building with a [VISITOR] Display, like Campfire or Carussel.
When a visitor is inside, click the mouse button down on the beaver icon in the visitors and only release after the beaver exits the building. (not happens every time, but managed to repro it - pmduda)
Cycle 9 about 10 days in, my left clicks stopped working. I was able to right click to move the camera, but clicking to select anything in game or in the menu didn't work. I killed the game and when I reopened it, the game window appeared on my second monitor. The left mouse worked normally after the restart

Holy-Fire MergedI had the same problem. The game stopped responding clicks, so I couldn't even save the game, it was unnerving. (Luckily there were autosaves).
I think what triggered it for me is that I clicked a beaver in a rooftop terrace just as it was leaving it. -

Peter S MergedI tried a few times to click on one of the beavers riding the moving carousel, but was unable to target one. After that, my mouse clicks stopped registering in the game.
I had to kill the game in my task manager, but it looks like the save-game is okay. -

Tacosauce890 MergedIf I attempt to Alt-Tab out to another window(ex. Discord/ Google Chrome) and then alt-tab back in, I lose the ability to use my mouse in game.
Specific issue is that when I alt-tab back into the game, I am unable to click buildings, toolbar icons, or even the menu, cannot use the scroll wheel to zoom, and cannot use the mouse to move the view at all. This makes it so that to restart the game, I need to either Alt-F4, or end task through task manager. -
09 Dec, '21
NacoranI had the same issue but found that I could occasionally hold the right click (which would move the cursor to the middle of the screen) and right click on something. I finally managed to click on a warehouse and that restored it to normal functioning.
A hot key to save would make it much easier to save the game if this happens. -

Nukem001 MergedI have the same issue on the experimental build. I don't think early access has the issue from last played. The game still runs but as stated by this user you provided no hot keys to exit the game or save. You are forced to use task manager. What you need to do is to add right now a hot key to exit the game so it can save your progress. Also adding a slider to the auto save to shorten or make it longer is useful. So add a hot key to exit the game ASAP which is a simple step to do until you can figure out the mouse issue.

OpenarlI've had this a couple of times, and managed to find a 100% repro for it:
1. Click on a warehouse
2. Click and drag the scroll bar in the warehouse UI
3. While dragging the scroll bar, right click outside of the warehouse UI to deselect the warehouse
4. Mouse clicks should now be bugged

dexametason MergedSame here:
after opening one of the dialogs in-game, I closed it, and never could click on anything afterwards. [not even closing the game via the menu]
Zoom, rotation [right-click as well] and the keyboard was working fine tough, only mouse click issues on any icon/menu/beaver. -

SybockNacoran's trick worked for me! have warehouse in center of screen. Now try holding right button until it disappears, then left click. It should select the warehouse and you're back in business! alternatively try releasing right click then left click on warehouse. Don't know 100% which I used.
Thank you, Nacoran! -

MadCyberRunnerI have lost the ability to use left click a lot of times now when I play for a few hours. I haven't noticed any particular reason. But the game continues to play, so I wait until next autosave and then close the window, and start again.
But it is annoying. -

whimzero MergedI have two versions of this: 1, the screen stops responding to mouse movement. It seems this is somehow related to hiding/showing the game menu while the mouse cursor is below it... Not 100%, but happened twice this way. I have dual monitors, and the mouse won't even show up on the 2nd monitor, so i know something is amiss. The other issue i have is that after a long time playing, suddenly i can't click on anything. I can use keyboard shortcuts, but the mouse won't click to select anything (including game menu buttons like SAVE and QUIT!!!)

GTSame problem, when checking up on warehouses (klikken through a lot of them) I sometimes lose the left mouse button. other button works (scrolling and moving camera, but not zoom unzoom) one time I managed to get the mouse back by alt tabbing in and out of the game a lot ... moving the camera with keyboard also still functional.

snailmonster MergedThe bug occurred while:
- Clicked on stranded beaver
- It was between a staircase and a building, there was no scaffolding or path underneath
- The beaver was starving and thirst was also high
- It was sleeping
- After a few seconds it became unemployed
- then died
Result:
- No reaction to scroll wheel input
- could not click on any object or button in game
- could not click on menu icons
- movement was still possible
Bug resolved:
- tried alt+tabbing in and out - no effect
- had to alt+f4 out of the game -

davkrnk MergedI wasn't able to use my mouse while I was panning on the camera and went to second monitor. I was able to press ESC and pull up the menu but I couldn't click on anything. I was able to still drag and pan and move the camera around while the game was running but I couldn't click on anything or access the buttons on menu.

I couldn't save the game without mouse click, so I suggest we can move on the menu with keaboard. -

RyokuMouse clicks stop working randomly when I interact with warehouse items, either adjusting inventory levels, clicking the check box or the scroll bar, and sometimes by just clicking a line item. It usually happens several times a play session, and I must stop the game either from Steam or from the Task Bar and restart it to regain mouse click functionality.

GeneHaving the same issue. It seems to occur when I right click after inspecting a storage inventory or something. It happens every hour or so of play now, its incredibly annoying. There's definitely a mouse input problem...
Since you can't force a save, I check the player log to watch for the next save (so I don't have to stare at the screen and hope to see the message). Player log can be found:

pocok MergedI had (afaik a building) description window open, then I don't really know what I did (yeah...), but somehow I managed to get the game into a stuck state, where _only_ keyboard shortcuts were available, nothing was clickable any more - like there was a non-visible, but also non clickable layer from the previously open window remaining somehow. No structure/object was clickable, no UI element was clickable (ie expand food). The ESC key did brought up the menu window, but none of the menu items were clickable...
I know, this is an extremely unproductive bugreport, at the moment I don't even have any info on the repro steps, all I know that I was in a "nothing is reacting to clicking" situation... I mean, I had to wait for an autosave to salvage my actual game... -

kiba MergedAs title says, however the right and center mouse button work as well as the keyboard. Game does not crash, in fact it keeps on going like nothing happened at all. Happens during long gaming sessions 6+ hours.
Suggestion to enable use of directional keys to navigate menu so you can save game and not lose hours of play along with looking into mouse bug.
I have experienced this on both win 10 and win 11. -

Doug Hoover MergedA very similar thing has happened to me -- just now, for the second time. Everything seemed to be working fine, with the major exception that the primary mouse button had stopped working -- so, couldn't click on anything (including in the Escape menu, to Save or Quit)! Had to alt-tab out and kill the process manually... after which, using Continue to re-load the latest save hard-crashed. (Sent the crash report to you; not too surprising something would go badly wrong when the game was forceably killed manually. I was actually rather impressed, when this happened the first time, and your apparent auto-save-on-process-kill functionality appeared to work perfectly, and allowed me to continue exactly where I left off! -- but no such luck, this time.)
The occasional bug aside, kudos on making a great game! Even this pre-release version has kept me well entertained for 10s of hours, so far... looking forward to the eventual v1.0! -

Miles MergedI had something similar happen to me, although it was just mouse input that was ignored. Hotkeys kept working. I fast forwarded the game until it auto-saved. When I restarted, mouse input worked again.
I think I was controlling which items are allowed to be stored in a store house when this happened.
(PS: maybe a hotkey to auto-save the game would be an easy "workaround" in the meantime) -

Fashtar MergedWhat happens at random during gameplay, is that after an autosave, I cannot click anything. I can adjust the time, but that is it. I cannot select any buildings, none of the construction buttons to build new buildings, nor can I use the menu to save, load, change settings, or even quit to the main menu. This has carried over to multiple settlements. Admittedly, I have been using a fanmade map, but I don't want to risk it with such settlements on the original maps.
I'd be happy to provide my save file for examination. -

Blakmoon MergedI had sometime the same issue, the only thing I noticed each time it happen is that I had selected a warehouse to check the goods selected (making no change but just going down the list), then selecting an another one, and when closing it, I was no more able to click anywhere, I had to force closing the game.
