Allow map maker to set starting resources
The first play through is well paced but after few play throughs getting started on a new map is a little slow. Allowing map makers to set starting resources (eg 20 planks, 5 dynamite, 200 science) would allow the new settlers to bypass some of the early game waiting.
Could also be part of the difficulty level settings but I feel map specific settings would assist building campaigns

Nick2253I second this!
I would also like to see the ability to pre-create buildings/paths/dams/etc for new maps. This is especially useful when experimenting with different strategies. As it is now, I have to play through the game for many hours to get to a point where I can start to even test if an experimental ideas is workable. -

VasI was about to suggest myself that we should have maps specify the initial difficulty settings except for custom, which would have a dropdown of all the difficulty settings found inside a map.
This way, map makers can add several difficulty settings to their map, Very Easy, Easy, Normal, Moderate, Hard, Very Hard, Brutal, Impossible.
Then the map maker would simply specify the settings each difficulty starts you with, what resources your starting point starts with, even non-survival things like Planks and Wood.
After all, not every map should be designed with an exact layout of pre-grown food and trees at the door, maybe a map creator wants to start you off in the middle of a drought, and a very limited supply of stuff so that you barely make it to the green season so you can begin expanding. Personally I think every difficulty should start you off with a little bit of water too, but anyway.
