Add a setting so we can adjust how many autosaves are kept and their frequency (period)
With the new save rework, auto-saves are limited to 3. I can't speak for others, but sometimes I find myself going back 10, 15, on rare occasions 20 auto saves cause I made a decision that backed me into a corner later on but didn't realize it at the time. The fact that saves are now grouped and smaller should make this better, and being an option allows us to tailor to what we want/our system can handle.

Valun Alain Mergedno, I was thinking rather of defining a backup frequency. ex: from every 15 minutes to every hour., or also from every day to every week. The number of backups does not bother me because I can delete them if there are too many

Autosaves can be your backups if we had full control over quantity and frequency. -

Eccentric Warmonger MergedAs my map gets more populated with beavers, I've noticed a huge slowdown when the game does an autosave. Upon further investigation, the Autosave feature is just a check box. So it's a Yes or a No. I understand that is way simpler to program than a complicated autosave feature, but I think giving users the options of selecting an amount of time between autosaves would be beneficial. For example: 5 mins, 15 mins, 30 mins 1 hour.
The other thing that would be nice is the ability to have key bindings. It would be great if I could select a water pump and just press a key on the keyboard to pause/unpause it. It would also be nice if I could multi-select buildings (like you can do in many city-building games) and perform an action, such as pausing or unpausing all of them. Thanks for the consideration. -

A situation now occurs in the game that is not game over, but there is no turning back.
I am currently unable to revive a beaver in a forktail. Auto save is pointless as it only holds 3.
I suggest increasing the number of autosave saves to reduce the number of tragedy players like me who cannot backtrack.
Or, slightly more complicated, change the autosave overwrite rules.

Instead of simply erasing the overwrite from the oldest data, the auto-save can give users the option of returning to the game at large without increasing the number of retentions as much as possible by leaving some older auto-saved data for the overwrite to be saved.
The idea is to change the overwrite algorithm to adjust the data interval to be retained as follows: most recent autosave, a little earlier autosave, and much earlier autosave.
Either method is fine, but we need to be able to bail out players who cannot revive their beavers when they find ou -

my name is mud MergedAdd a variable in the settings that allows the user to set how many autosaves they want to keep. Right now it is set to 3... seriously? Other games with this sort of feature always allows the user to define how many save games to keep. As it is only 3 autosaves are kept. This is not enough. I want 10.

That said, to which ever admin sees this, apparently another suggestion regarding autosaves had its title changed to include number of saves, so don't know if it might be worth just combining them all now?

Wood Wizard MerlinJust experienced my first badtide, tried to survive and failed. It would be great to have a few more Autosaves to go back to (meaning a higher frequency of saves), in order to be able to make adjustments without replaying ingame weeks (and doing the same things over again).
