Floodgate keeper job
It may be handy to 'automate' floodgate opening and closing with a new beaver job.
As an example use case :
- I build a floodgate
- I build a Water gauge upstream or downstream the floodgate
- I build a Floodgate Keeper house (which it needs a beaver)
- Them I configure this new house by linking a gate and a gauge to it, them I set a water level threshold
Now, the beaver takes actions according to the gauge threshold opening and closing the Floodgate
Best Regards

KevinThey could also set the gates differently for:
- day or night (save water for water wheels during the day)
- drought or normal weather -

Paul SLove this idea.

Beavers keeping floodgates could:
a. set to maintain downstream level i.e. 0.5, 1.5 etc.
b. set to maintain flow rate i.e. 1cm/s etc.
c. set to maintain upstream water level i.e. 1.5 etc.
d. Possible combinations of rules i.e. all of A, B and C with 1 rule priority e.g.
- Set Flow rate to P1
- Downstream level will be honoured but changed when flow rate below requested.
- Upstream level will be honoured but changed when flow rate below requested. -

Fi4468I missed this automation system quite quickly in the game. Plants should have two positions: with energy and without .
And a system that lowers the doors depending on the water level. And come back up if the water is flowing in a dam. -

Dolphy001It would also make sense in terms of gameplay that floodgates are controlled by beavers since you unlock floodgates in midgame where you have no worker shortage.

Drulnir MergedAdd a possibility to add flood gate workers.
They operate depending on the water height on the other side of the gat.
-set to height h1 when beneath x and set height to h2 when above y.
-set to height h2 when leaving to take a nap
- set to height h1 when flood strength from a water flow indicator within reach is lower than x and to h2 when higher than y
-set to height h1 when wind strength from a windvane within reach is lower than x and to h2 when higher than y.
Just a basic Idea to be able to use flood gates more effective -

Chester L.Why not make the stream gauge like a float switch? Wouldn't have to waste a beaver. Just a little resource and blocks to make it powered? Have it tied to the flood gate at a preset level and open and close according.

TesterAdd in a badwater detection mechanism that also changes the floodgates opening/closing too
