Loading takes forever

When I start the game or load a game file, it takes up to three minutes each. It doesn't bother me, but I'm a little bit worried. What if I once reach a colony of over 300 beevers? Can I than still load the file? Maybe you could look if it's possible to make it lighter for the hardware to load a colony?

Yes, loading times depend on number of objects on map. Some optimizations will happen over time, but I don't have anything concrete yet.
For now I can only recommend getting a SSD for main partition, even quite cheap SATA drive can make a lot of difference with many games loading times.
