Engines should only provide power when needed & only while staffed.
Irontooth Engines, since they require an operator anyway, should only burn logs when network power demand exceeds production and of course only when staffed (during workhours).
Surely no sane beaver would leave such a dangerous device running while everyone is asleep and the power demand is zero, right? :)
Jokes aside, you can't even compare the usefulness of windmills vs engines right now. Engines are insanely expensive compared and with the current inefficiencies (i.e.: burning logs even when workhours are done) absolutely underwhelming.
Currently: Engines consume logs constantly.
Proposed: Engines should only consume logs when strictly necessary.

Hawkeightthe only problem with this is how do you power entertainment like the merry-go-round with the engine off?

StefanActually, Engines don't require an operator if there's a Hauling Post nearby. So if you feel like cutting down the workforce, here you can. Not sure this was the intended behavior though, but I kinda like it.
