Keep bot (golems) fully optional (let beavers do terraforming)
Golems are received differently by the community, some love them, some not so much.
But good thing about golems before terraforming update was that they were completely left for player's choice. You can have half population as automatons, just a few helpers, a single golem district, none at all or a completely mechanized dystopia.
It makes sense you are adding new perks to golems, to make them more special and needed in the game, but I suggest to still keep them optional, like was done with injuries on factories, have same approach with terraforming.
After all beavers do use mud to build their lodges.

WhiteRooI'm alright with only the golems being able to do earth work, but currently there is little reason to actually make extra blocks because how late on the tech tree does the option for it becomes available. Unless you are deep in the game, and unlocked everything, yet still decide to build a brand new district, it doesn't really have too much use.
But, I had the same issue with the dynamite, when that was on the top of the tech tree. -

StwfMore of a question, but is there anything you can’t do with levees and platforms? I like the idea of terraforming, but the whole thing is optional, right? It just looks better?

Gin Fuyou AdminWell, since the game is a sandbox at the moment, everything is kind of optional. Point is that "you can do anything you want in the game without golems"
And clearly platforms don't allow farming. -

CFI bought Timberborn because it was a cute simple pastoral game with beavers with a lot of capacity for emergent gameplay, and now it has glowy blue sci-fi lights and robots. Honestly I quit playing after the food update because that was just adding artificial complexity to a game that was near perfect. It only needed a few QOL updates, and tightening up the interface, and you guys could have moved on to making a new game and made more money off Timberborn's reputation.
This is the third or fourth time I've been frustrated into quitting a game by the "neverending alpha" of early-access games. I want to play the game I bought (post-release, even!), not this feature-creeped mess. But I guess keeping gamers in the FOMO loop is more profitable than making something entirely new. I'm done spending money on games until developers go back to "1.0 means you get nothing but bugfixes from now on." -

Jcheung AdminCE, you realize this game is early access and is currently, uh, what. 0.2.8.something? it hasn't hit 1.0 yet.

MarcTo the devs, I would have prefer to have only "traditional" beavers in the game. I personally don't like the artificial golem thing. The beaver theme is really what is making this game unique, so adding golem just don't fit well the me, again, just a personal opinion. Thanks for taking time to read this. I hope that you'll return to the "original unique game". Have a nice day.

Mithmortre " is there anything you can’t do with levees and platforms? I like the idea of terraforming, but the whole thing is optional, right? It just looks better?" Terraforming makes soil that when combined with water can be fertile, producing more land for growing things; stairs and platforms can't do that.
re "let beavers do terraforming" and do the digging (maybe at a lesser efficiency or in a different manner) to get the dirt to do the terraforming (and mud baths); +1 :0) -

CarpeComputerAs much as I enjoy the golems (bots) and my current goal is to make a technoutopia, where beavers of all districts have loads of free time and enjoy scientific careers - I agree that being forced to produce bots to do terraforming does not make the game more fun.

Marie Mergedhaving to build bots just to get 10 mud its a big too much and illogic. the earth extractor and the bots should be able to serve something more important : like teraformation that is great, or beaver working replacement, but bath mud requierirng all this it is not worth it I undersand the logic but I would like to play sometime non bot faction and it is so a pitty to do not have bath mud ^^
