[suggestion] increase max wind speed - windmill
so for FT, i've almost never, ever seen the high end for windmills, but i've seen the low side quite often (when i notice things are grinding to a halt usually)
my suggestion is thus:
increase maximum windspeed, which will allow the windmill to put out maximum power through a range of wind speeds
in return,
add a "high wind" cutoff where windmills produce 0 power and throw a text warning for overspeed when selected-this should be fairly rare and less common than low speed cutoff.
reduce maximum wind turbine power slightly-this will be offset by longer stays at steady output maximums through the expanded operation range
before people ask, this is a real feature on modern wind turbines - if wind speed is exceeded, protection systems are activated. this can be as simple as forcing the turbine to not face into the wind (physical design or active motors) or a mechanical brake... or as complex as changing the pitch of the blades or electronic braking

FuryoftheStarsAgreed. Another thing that might be good to change is the low speed start up point between the large and small wind turbines. At current, I believe the small wind turbine turns on *after* the large turbines, which contributes more to the smaller being completely replaced by the large (vs allowing a trade off between the two), and is counter to what I can find online in reality.

MarianTo cutoff on high wind and to not produce any energy is not fair and not realistic.

FuryoftheStars@Marian - Uh, actually, that is completely realistic. I mean, the OP already stated it. I'm guessing you didn't read the whole thing? Look into modern wind turbines. If they were allowed to spin too fast, then they'd rip their own props off from the centrifugal force. As such, they are equipped with various methods to slow and stop themselves when they get going too fast.
As for the "unfair" bit, again, the OP already stated that this shouldn't happen too often. This can be done either by only having the max wind speed slightly over the high cutoff of the turbines, or by giving the system a weighted randomizing selection. -

Jcheung Adminonly half a year late to this, but currently how the system works roughly is:
wind 0-20% - 0 power
wind 50% - 50% power
wind 99% - 99% power
what i proposed, which i could have explained a little more clearly, is more of...
uh... warning, arbitrary numbers time
wind 0-10% - 0 power
wind 20% - 20% power
wind 50% - 80% power
wind 60% - 100% power
wind 80% - 100% power
wind 90% - 100% power
wind 98-100% - 0 power
except the 100% power in this scenario would be more of maybe 80-90% power of the old system.
*specific numbers for everything need to actually be evaluated -

Jamie CI want the option to set the minimum value in addition to the max value.
