Depth Limit Toggle on Excavator
I dunno, maybe I like building excavators to remove only a few layers and than place that dirt somewhere else...
Just a simple toggle for limiting the number of levels down the excavator digs.

Gin Fuyou AdminYou have dynamite if you want to remove dirt, excavator price was never meant for only removal.

Aaron MergedI personally like placing my dirt excavators on mountainous areas bordering my base so I get easy dirt off mountains I originally planned to flatten with dynamite, but without any ability to control the maximum depth it often leads to the mountains turning to deep pits if I don't pay attention, so similar to floodgates I would like to be able to select the depth of maximum excavation

JoshuaI know this suggestion was marked "Unlikely to happen", but I want to chime in as another voice asking for this, and explain my reasoning.
I do use Dynamite when I want to remove small amounts of dirt or shape terrain, but when I do use the excavator to gather dirt, I rarely want it to drill all the way to the bottom of the map. Usually I only want maybe 3-4-5 layers of dirt removed, and more than that is not desirable. When I do forget to stop the excavator, I have to manually fill in the hole that is now too deep. -

goodgirlvhagar MergedThe dirt excavator continuously digs until the base height of the map. While this provides infinite dirt, it makes it finnicky to use for terraforming where one may not want to destroy all of the dirt with dynamite but instead harvest it. Adding a depth limit, like how water pumps have an adjustable max depth, would solve these issues.
