Badtide needs some help

Started a game on normal with the badtides, there's no easy way to figure out how to help the beavers if they are infected and it really slows the game down after the first couple of droughts. I was enjoying this game a fair bit before but this isn't an easy game and even on normal that bit was extremely punishing and enough to make me uninstall until later.

It definitely feels like it's a crippling mechanic early and an annoying one later. I like the idea but I'm not a big fan either.
