[Experimental] Bug - Sluice on auto says it's closed but it's not
On experimental branch and on a macbook:
When the sluice has "Auto" mode turned on while the downstream water is higher than the threshold, the sluice will automatically indicate it is supposed to be closed, which is as expected. However, it will not actually close and water will keep on running through. So the sluice says it's closed but water is running through.
"Auto" mode seems to work perfectly when it is turned on while the downstream water is below the threshold, i.e. it will actually close when the limit is reached. Using the "Closed" mode at any time will also close the sluice as expected. So it only occurs when the sluice is set into "Auto" mode with a high downstream water level.

i also have this issue, "Auto closed above depth" on but continues to overfill the reservoir -

pibou MergedWhen the auto mode is activated on a floodgate, there are two possibilities : opened and closed. Sometimes, the floodgate is indicated as close because of a too high water level downstream but water pass through anyway. That's a very anoying problem.
P.S.: I only have the problem with the mode : "Close if the water level downstream is higher than x.xx." -

AldreaI am also having this issue with the experimental branch. The sluice will state Auto: Closed but water is still flowing thru the sluice. I have verified this issue on 2 different maps, Cliffside and Canyon.

naxturoxI also have this issue and they tend to just flood parts of my colony due to this, the wierd part is that it can be solved by pressing close manually and then pressing auto and then it worcks fine untill the reservior upstream empties and then fills up again

TortoiseThis problem is still present in the current (on GOG) live version. It's exactly one (pair) of sluices misbehaving, they are regulating a relatively fast flowing and small reservoir. So the backwave from the exit sluices on that, as suggested by someone on Steam, is a likely cause to trigger this. They close eventually, so keeping the setting on 0.6 or below usually prevents flooding, at least for this triangle of time delay of actually closing, flow throughput and reserve volume.

Jcheung Adminsluices don't close instantly, but rather gradually.

TortoiseOK, as legends tell with beaver tech it took 6 beaverhours to build Beaverome I kinda expected it won't take it around 5 to close that sluice, or roughly a minute in our time at normal speed. At that time frame it wasn't noticeable that anything was happen, especially not gradually. Thanks for the link, it enabled me to understand the situation better and add a quick fix by adding a 3rd sluice to reduce flow speed and somewhat speed up again to stabilize things.

MajavaFor me sluice bugs out when:
- Sluice is in automatic mode
- Configured as "Close if the water level downstream is higher than x"
- Water level is currently higher than x
- Sluice is currently closed (this is correct)
- Turn sluice to manual open mode
- Sluice opens, lets water through
- Set sluice back to auto
- Sluice state changes to closed (this is correct)
- Water passes through (devs says there is a delay)
- Sluice stays closed, but lets water through. Does not get fixed by waiting. (this is bug)
Only way to fix is to toggle sluice to manual closed mode. This will stop the water flow immediately, even though sluice was already closed and no water should have flowed in the first place. After sluice is properly closed, it can be again toggled to automatic mode. It will then function as expected.
Seems like the game gets confused if a sluice is opened manually when automation expects it to be closed. -

QodvuxI'm also having the issue of some sluices saying "Closed" on Auto while still letting through water for quite a while (but clicking the "Closed" setting closes them instantly). I don't have a Discord account, could someone kindly explain to me why this is not a bug, or (if it is the desired behavior) at least an inaccurate state description?

JeremyJust adding onto this, was experiencing this bug earlier today same as stated by OP. Set auto on a sluice to cut off when main pool full, walked away, entire reservoir got transferred and still said closed.

Gin Fuyou AdminI played quite a bit for a couple of days and used enough sluices and they work fine for me. Please start a new topic and share there what is your sluice setup and when it fails. Prepare save files if it reproduces after reload. And please make clear in posts you know about the intended delay when closing.
