Books do not work in their current state

I know there are many suggestions for books and have voted for ones I like. In their current state all resources seem pretty balanced but I have to have 4 buildings on book production to make enough books for all my beavers. On top of this they only give a small well-being bonus. They should either be consumed a lot slower or give a massive buff in other areas. P.S. I love this game!! (except books)
