Also sub-suggestion: I think it would be interesting to slightly change fruit growing from how crops works. Crop just have timer until it fully grown, but I suggest tying fruit trees to a fixed cycle, like when a tree blooms in spring, bears a fruit in summer and ripe for harvest in autumn. In game it can be tied to wet\dry cycle (or more if added) or just static cycle like every 5th/10th/15th day.
It gives a little variety in mechanic, allows player to fill passing of time better, all trees (of same kind) going to bloom at same time will look more natural and appealing.
For farming mechanic it's adds a need to keep trees watered continuously, drying it out at any stage of growth leading to reduced or lost harvest. (e.g. if you let tree dry during blooming stage, it doesn't bear fruits and stays "just leaves" until next blooming cycle starts) -

Gin FuyouWhy wild though? Except for a suggestion I posted at discord for exploration parties that would find and retrieve seeds for new plants as game mechanic and research expansion.
Fruit trees gardening work for game setting very well, because they are at same time food source and could be a emergence wood reserve. (and can be visually appealing with bloom and ripening fruits). Could also be included in mechanic for bee hives if they are added.
Plus I really enjoy apple and pear ciders and want to share it with my beavers.
(Some argue that they don't want alcohol present in the game, but I think I could be made into settings toggle if you want soft or hard ciders. Or just don't stress which is it at all.) -

Zam!Trees + clay pots = preservatives, AKA long lasting food storage for dry season. Additionally there can be multiple varieties of nut bearing trees as well.

Michael Cheeseman MergedIt would be really fun if we could grow hops and brew beer in giant barrels (like the large water-storage barrels). This could, in turn, unlock the building of a pub or a nightclub where the beevers drank, danced, played billiards, etc. Thanks!

LaceyDawnOrchards cared for by a different type of farmer. Can be combined with flour & honey to make pies and served in a Bakery or Community Kitchen. Or fermented w/honey in clay jars (made by a Potter) for mead/wine and served in a Pub. Or brewed with hops for beer. Musicians (who have to make their instruments) can provide bonus happiness & social interactions.

RakazielApparently you can also make wine from carrots. I would make a single brewery building and you can toggle what it accepts (with the yields depending on the input i.e. carrots give the least, followed by potatoes (same multiplier as grilled potatoes) followed by berries (so they have greater endgame use). Not sure where to put wheat i.e kvaas. Then again we also have to consider the age rating of the game, want to keep it General. Then again, stumbling beavers (like the drunk peasants in Stronghold) would be hilarious!

Dennis MergedBasically, beavers plant trees which provide fruits, such as apples, and can be cut down for lumber when needed.
It works as follows:
- Like a blueberry bush, a fruit tree grows from a seedling planted by a forester and needs time to produce fruits after maturing. The fruits can provide basic nutrition like berries or provide new nutrition perks. The tree will continue producing fruits like a blueberry bush as long as it is alive and is not cut down by lumberjacks or demolished by builders. Fruits are collected by gatherers.
- Unlike a blueberry bush, a mature fruit tree can provide logs when marked to be cut down by lumberjacks. To balance the game, each tree only provides one to two units of logs when cut down.
While I understand that fruit trees seem a bit redundant, I thought that it would be a fun idea to implement in the game. -

melympeYou know, the berries from the berry bushes are quite good turned into wine, too... Plus, it gives our beavers a reason to keep growing berries. Also, mead from honey - another good use for the bee hives.

Tangler MergedWhy are your settlers oblidged to only drink plain water? A sapient creature ought to enjoy some quality drinks! Besides, berries are nearly useless as of now - why not turn them into wine?
Suggestion:
- A Brewery building can consume water and different plant products to produce beverages such as berry wine, wheat beer, maple rum, etc.
- Consuming drinks satisfies both thirst and their own unique needs.
- Some recepies may even be faction exclusive to give factions even more diversity -

McSkirmishpantsWith the new food added in the latest update I am not sure we need more food with fruit trees but I think the idea of brewing has merit.
This could be a way of creating a Tavern where the Beavers could get entertainment being a slightly less efficient way of adding entertainment for Beavers not near water to have swimming pools. -

Joonas JoensuuApple trees to lumber and apples->cider->happiness would be great (also random fights between inebriated beavers in taverns that would require a visit to a first aid station to treat injuries would be hilarious). As a homebrewer myself, I would prefer barley that first has to be malted, then some hop additios and then to brewery -> beer (same building as for cider, but has to be selected whether to brew beer or cider).

AuranBeaverMy mother in law recently told me a story of how she found a big old beaver sitting under a pear tree next to the road - she contacted the local ranger, because she feared that the beaver might accidently be run over - and they told her: Yeah we know him. He has been going to that tree for years and gorging himself on the pears and getting drunk of on them.
So something like fruit tree and brewing are really something to consider -
Maybe give them a boost to happiness but a slight chance to get too drunk and apply a debuff to working speed or needing to sober up (similar to how there is a chance for beavers near beehives to get stung) -

Somewhere for my wheat to go when I don't quite to have the mills to work through my stockpile, but still need to make wheat usable fast. Again, thanks so much for making such a great game! I stayed up until 6 am the other night just getting totally lost building beaver cities.

Could be user to make dandelion wine/drink (2 dandelion + 1 water = 1 dandelion drink)
Add an apple tree as a variety of tree that can be planted and the beavers can gather and eat apples and apples can be processed into apple juice/cider. Apples + wheat would also make a delicious apple pie in the bakery. -

HeyloLove the idea of a brewery for drinks/juices/ciders. And a resturant or gathering place to consume them socially.
I love there are blueberries/dandelions but they become unnecessary after you gain enough food. Using them for juices (or pies/salads) would be a good use of them. Apples would be a great addition for the same reason.

Earth DragonThis suggestion seems real likely if they put in another faction, as they are now giving different factions unique food chains and exclusive tree types. There are only two breeds of beavers on Earth, but they definitely don't need to stop at 2 here.

Mephistokles MergedSince the folktails have dandelions the use of them are pretty slim. Its a shame, because the look pretty nice in a natural enviroment. So a thought came to my mind, that it would be nice, to have more uses for them (like the blueberrys)
Since dandelions are pretty nutrious, why not make some nice beverages out of them (and other plants) - like dandelion liquor, blueberry wine and beer - it also can be a luxus item for the late game - maybe combined with a tevern?
Also dandelion salad can be a additional food source for the early game. -

Jeffrey MergedHoney from Bees and Bubbles from Extract and Berries and Wheat and water and what ever else to make Beer and mead and wine with different recipes. Must spend time in the barrel before complete. Then it can be consumed in place of food or water but at a cost of speed and efficiency.
