season variation and related endgame challenge

add random variance to seasons, so sometimes it'll be a few days shorter or longer.

if the earlier wet seasons are longer, and as time goes on, dry seasons get longer, an interesting endgame goal could be to have alternate water sources, and eventually a goal of surviving after a permanent drought.
