Christoph MergedDuring drought the upper water wheel keeps spinning. It seems to create a current going counter-clockwise. Occasionally the lower one starts spinning too.

pmduda Admin MergedThis is probably due to water pumps generating a small current while sucking water.
-

Yonish Admin MergedThere's still possibility of small water flow during that time which is what happened here. It should stop with time.

duhl Mergedthe wheel kept spinning during all dry season.
plus, with a small water flow, the wheel should not produce max horse power. -

Oliver MergedI'm actually pretty sure this has to do with the water physics. I'm pretty sure that the water is bouncing off the dam and the walls, causing it to spin the opposite direction than in wet season. Perhaps the water wheel should be changed to have power output according to the power of the current, not just an on or off switch.

Belar MergedI also have a couple waterwheels that spins in the reverse direction during the dry season. They are also paired together against a dam. I kept my water pumps, which are pretty distant anyways, turned off for the first 3 days of the dry season and the wheels kept generating full power. Maybe it has something to do with the way water rebounds off the dam and the close placement of the wheel?

KintarI've seen this, too. Situation: Plains map. I have a two-height dam on the upstream side of the starting peninsula. I have a one-height dam on the downstream side of the starting peninsula. I have water pumps halfway between the two-height dam and the waterfall upstream of them, but none between the two dams. I have two water wheels in series immediately downstream of the two-height dam. When the drought hits, the waterwheel farthest from the shoreline continues to provide power, even though the water levels in the lower "lock" are stable. The animations show an eddy running from the spinning wheel to the bend in the river, then circling back up along the shoreline upstream, under the (stationary) wheel closest to the shore, then out along the dam before again flowing through the spinning water wheel.

Gin Fuyou Admin MergedWater can bounce of the walls and dams and cause temporary flow during drought, it's not a bug, but can be changed later.
If you still think it is a bug, or wheels turn for prolonged time please submit report as described here https://mechanistry.com/bug -

DuckI just encountered a similar bug. I will send the save file.
During an 18 day dry season, I noticed that my water wheels at a specific spot were still moving on day 10. The water seemed to have fallen into a loop allowing it to create a current that was self contained. It ended at the end of the next day when, I believe, the water level became too low to catch the water wheels. -

nksI have encountered the same thing. I have two water wheels next to each other. They both spin in different directions. And, it looks like the water wheels creates a bit of water flow away from them. a bit further down the stream that flow then is able to circle back around, making it's way back to my wheels and keep them turning, perpetually.

ChrisI built a water wheel that spins during dry season. Construction for it was completed during dry season which I am currently in.
My other wheels right next to it don't spin during the dry season. They were all completed during a previous wet season. -

Gin Fuyou AdminChirs, have you observed water flow? Personally I haven't seen wheels turning in the still water, but instead sometimes water starts swirling in dry season. generating current from nothingness. Also if you can reproduce that loading the saved game it can be valuable for developers, please mail the save file as described here: https://mechanistry.com/bug

Walker Ericsson MergedDuring droughts, with certain wheel/pump configurations (image), a standing current can exist on Meander, even without pumps going, causing water wheels (the rightmost one in the configuration shown) to continue to spin. Expected behavior is that a standing body of water would come to rest.
