Set Custom Defaults for "Desired amount" Values in Storage Buildings (warehouse preset)
I think it would be a nice quality of life change if we can have an option to pre-set values for the desired quantities of resources in different storage buildings. I've noticed that often when I have a lot of water tanks, my haulers will fiddle around trying to make them all even because the tanks are all set by default to "desire" their maximum capacity. Thusly, the haulers spend extra time trying to balance it out, when I'd rather they just put it in once and let it be.
I know that I can manually set it to have a desired value of zero with all my storage containers and fix it, but setting it manually gets kinda old kinda quickly, and it's an issue that affects anything that can store a resource, not to mention how quickly the problem can scale up as a colony expands. So it would be nice to get to set the desired values ahead of time, or maybe have a menu option to make them default to zero, since I tend to just want plain storage space more often than a specific maintained supply.

UristMcKerman MergedWhen I'm building stockpile while having excess amounts of other goods I can get distracted and when returning my gaze I find out that sthis stockpile I've intended for a certain resource (let's say, scrap metal) becomes stuffed to its capacity with other resource (let's say, bread and grilled potatoes), and currently there is no way to quickly dump those resources to free up space. And that's quite frustrating and happens more often than not.
I don't think I've ever needed currently present behaviour (desired to 80, all enabled). While suggested behaviour is wastly superior, since you can easily enable neeed goods, but cleaning them up is impossible ATM -

ZefI agree with having "desired" set to 0 as default. The beavers just become way to occupied with spreading goods if you don't set it to 0. It took me a while to figure out why my beavers felt so inefficient. Now I set all my warehouses, waterstorage, etc. to 0 desire. It's a big difference

Gouflax MergedI think all the resources in the warehouses must be unselected by default, and let the player chooses the resources he wants to storage in these buildings.
Because of the actuel settings, the beavers fill a warehouse with random resources at the second it's build, and you have to wait for them to empty it before an optimal use. -

Jonathan MergedAdd an option to change the default for the tanks and storages.
For example all my storages have a set purpose. so i have to click on everyone on set allow none and desire none and then find the item I want to store.
Cant do much about the last step but with a save default button you could make all new storages start wih allow none and desire none. just to reduce clicks -

TussakFor desired, add the options 'even (spread)', which set the desired amount for each allowed goods to (total storage capacity/number of allowed goods).
I would suggest to make it more high level as well, by being able to set a 'trade type' for a warehouse. These could be buttons similar to the current desired/allowed. Selection trade type sets even spread automatically.
Suggested trade types:
-Food storage: carrots, sunflower seeds, grilled/baked goods (not sure should include berries, see medicinal)
-Grilling: potatoes, chestnuts, spadderdock
-Milling: wheat, cattail roots
-Baking: flours, maple syrup
-Medicinal: dandelions, medicine, berries (for iron teeth breeding pods)
-Wood constructions: planks, gears (maybe pine resin?)
-Metal construction: blocks and golem parts
-Biofuel refinement?
I would be great if these presets also available as trade route to drop of points, so you can set those up quicker. -

Xode_00 MergedIt would also be nice to be able to set defaults for any building meant for storage or distribution, as often if you forget to set the options before the storage you are building is constructed, your beavers will fill it with a bunch of stuff you don't want in the building, and then have trouble getting rid of it.
Have an option screen or even a "Planner office" building that lets you set up default options for any building of that type when you build it. If its a Planner office then I think the office should have "Global" and "District" settings so you could set up defaults for your entire colony for common buildings but have it overridden by district settings if for example you have settings that you are going to need a lot in one particular district (like one that specializes in wood processing perhaps, or a farm district) -
