forester is too essential
the forester is too essential to allow the player to accidentally (or even intentionally) choose to research something else first. just disable all other research options until the player has finished researching the forester, as part of the tutorial.

RyanYeah, maybe it should just be available without research

Peter KnutsenI think certainly in Easy difficulty, it makes a lot of sense to have it unlocked at gamestart. One could even add a difficylty config option to start the game with a very few Techs unlocked, specifically the 3 I consider the bread-and-butter of the early part of the mid game: Forrester, tier-1 Platform and Stairs.

GauronI kinda agree, the forester is a harsh necessity which you cant ignore at all. You can "function" to some degree without any of the upgrades but if you dont have a forester you cant expand at all.
How about giving the ability to the basic woodcutter to replant some birch and blueberries randomly so even if you dont have the forester yet you can expand without it. -

JordanI believe the game has a mechanic to allow saplings to fall from fully grown trees. If you start in an area with a forest, you can selectively cut trees to allow saplings to fall between the cut trees. It may take time, but the forester isn't entirely necessary.

Jexadoxi still think even in normal difficulty it adds unnessesary stress to the beginning of the game.

TTJAgree. The forrester needs to be available earlier in the game. Currently the player falls into the "wood gap" when 90-99% of the initially existing trees have been cut for completing the tutorial and building the first dam and the newly planted trees haven't grown yet.
The forrester should be logs only and available from the start. In the tutorial it could be placed before building inventor and power wheel.
