Medicine too expensive/Make dandelions able to heal

Love the idea of medicine, except some of my beavers are injured but I can't make medicine because I'm not even close to having metal for the healer building. Maybe a solution would be to make dandelions a less effective version of medicine? Or create some other way to make medicine? Or beavers heal naturally over a period of time in a medical bed?

5th EarthBeavers do heal naturally if you have a bed. Medicine just makes it faster.
