Annoying background noise - wind sounds is not adjusted with environment slider
There is a background noise that sounds roughly like wind that can be rather annoying after a few hours. It's like when there's a background fan that you don't hear until it turns off, and then you notice the silence. I'd like an option to turn this noise off.

I've moved it all the way to zero but there are still environmental sounds. -

Alpha MergedPLEASE! Make a sound option to turn off wind noise/ambient noise or make a separate slider for that. Played for a couple of hours now and that "white noise" is driving me mad.
Great game so far though aside from that torture. Looking forward to more content. -

Thor MergedThe constant noise of the wind is so abrasive it makes me enjoy the game much more if i turn off the sound entirely.

stieg Mergedmy use case commenting on this topic is that I listen to other music or podcasts while playing.Having the UI sounds and workshop sounds is nice. Sadly I do turn down the very excellent in game music. But unfortunately the water and wind sounds are less delightful. This is a thematically appropriate suggestion because beavers hate the sound of running water.

eable2Agree! And even if you do enable in-game music, the ambient wind still plays in the map editor which otherwise has no sound aside from the UI.

herpaderp MergedI've noticed a very distinct wind sound that is almost like a whistle. It's very repetitive and lasts around 3 seconds. Changing the sound settings doesn't toggle the sound off. Is it possible to add more variation to the sounds or at least switch off certain individual sounds?

Jamie C MergedYes. A way to disable the wind noise would be great. It only goes away when zoomed all the way in. The high pitched noises in the wind sound like something you might hear in a high mountain pass and makes no sense in this game. This is the second most annoying thing in the game.

Betasys MergedThe (digital?) noise of a strong wind is constantly blowing in the background, which is particularly audible when playing without music. This sound drowns out all other noises when you scroll the view further out.
It would be very nice if the volume of this background noise could be adjusted or if there was an option to switch it off permanently. After a few minutes, it severely disturbs my immersion, which is a great pity. -

Jamnott MergedWhen you turn off the game music and/or any of the others (enviroment and ui) all you hear is wind blowing. Which gradually increases in volume until it is louder than max volume.

PerThe wind sound is maybe the most repetitive aspect of the game and there's no way to opt out unless I mute everything. It kind of sets down the overall atmosphere of the game for me quite a lot.
Suggestions:
1. Personal fav: Add a separate volume slider only for the wind or at least a "mute wind" checkbox
2. Put wind sound under environment volume
3. Make the wind sound more varied -

Jon Sterling MergedIt's currently 4/10/2024 and the Environmental Sound option still has 0 functionality and the constant whirling sound of the wind still cannot be disabled. A consistent medium dB sound can damage the ear drum over time (ex. sleeping with a fan on) similarly to how bursts of very high dB sound can also damage the ear drum. I still can't recommend the game since the only way to play it comfortably is to disable the sound completely, or zoom your camera in as far in as possible.

BrucePlease add the wind/bird sounds to the environment volume slider which cover building sounds as well. There's currently no way to control the volume of those sounds.
