Placing beehives has impact on performance

I'm running the latest experimental version of the game.
When I'm playing on a 256² map partitioned into a few settlements, it seems that having many beehives globally incurs a performance issue from the way the highlighting of their impact area works. Placing a new beehive after already having many of them causes quite a bit of stuttering when moving the mouse. It's a problem similar to already having a big path network.

It would be good if the game cached that somehow, or if the highlight was filtered to be only applied to the immediate vicinity of the cursor.
