Add landscape elevation on screen to show terrain height under mouse
Show the height continuously in the corner as you move the mouse around to assist in planning. Alternatively have a measurement tool that can show landscape height and perhaps other measurements like distance
[mod edit]: heightmap overlay now goes here too as alternative \ additional implementation for same purpose.

A togglable indicator showing the height of terrain or possibly other features. This would help with building/planning bridges and aqueducts. -

Thelightcosine MergedWe need a game tool that allows us to click on a square and get a numerical value for the elevation so that we can easily compare elevations between two disparate areas.

Ben MergedAdd a UI tool that tells you the elevation of the top of the tile that your cursor is on. I have often wanted to build large bridges/ dams and found it tedious to try and figure out the correct height for everything. This tool would also help for seeing where the new waterline will end up after dam construction.

RohanCame looking for this. Was cutting a channel through a mountain, got halfway through and realised that where I was bring water too was actually one level higher than where I was coming from. Would definitely be helpful to have a way to instantly tell. Maybe not a mouse thing as the title suggests, but a filter/view you can toggle that displays the world in the height levels. Either numbers on every square or perhaps colour coded, ie. this level is red, level above is yellow, etc. Could be an accessibility problem though for those with colourblindness.

Shraeder MergedWith some terrain, it's hard to tell what Y level it's on relative to other terrain. it would be nice to turn on a filter that highlighted each level of terrain a different shade or color.

fabniethis would be a very welcome addition to the game. I enjoy games like creeper world which need the hight to be shown for survival reasons and to be able to see your current absolut hight in timberborn would be a game changer/huge qol improvement.

NeffsterAgree on height map but I would like to expand to full x,y,z coordinates of each block to help me count how far something is as well as how tall

tompw MergedWorking out whether two bits of ground are at the same height is tricky. The info box for a ground/water tile or building should show the height.

Peri MergedThis is now multiple runs that I've discovered that, oh, I'm already basically at the bottom of the map. You shouldn't have to even unlock the dynamite (or the better dynamite) if this is true; there should be a way to tell what layer you're currently looking at and how much further down it goes before you spend like two thousand research points discovering it doesn't do anything.

Goose MergedYes please! I used height markers on land so often on roller coaster tycoon growing up. I often find myself in a situation (when playing Timberborn) where I could use this tool. I came to the forum today specifically to request this but found this post first! :)
I will make an example of what this looks like & post it here in a few days. Thank you! -

DavidI also came to suggest this. I wonder if it would also be possible to show water depth this way instead of using the depth gauge building since it is not always possible to place one?

Alex MergedIt would be nice to have a camera toggle to be able to see what the levels of terrain are without needing to shift the camera. Also somewhat related, it's odd you can't see what the actual height of the water is when flood games are able to regulate water height to .5m; make it a bit of a guessing game til you figure it out. Having both the ability to see terrain height and water height would greatly improve UE
