The water with reflections looks really great. But now, the waterfall and fountain water look less realistic in comparison (in my opinion). If reflections aren't possible everywhere, maybe a foaming effect would improve the situation? (And besides, the fountain water could also be transparent, like everywhere else.) -

Neffster Mergedwould love to see some misting or churn at the base of waterfalls, maybe if the water falls more than 3 blocks or something we get an additional graphic?

Lootypants MergedThe water doesn't foam or splash or mist. This takes the awe / joy a bit away from huge waterfalls like in the 50x50 map.
This makes the water seem more like a non-newtonian fluid like starch or glue.
Its definetly not game-breaking, but would help a lot with aesthetics and judging the speed and flow of the water. -

TheLordEternalI'd like to add to this suggestion: Visual indicators for the velocity of water.
The faster it's flowing the more foam is visible whenever it has to go around a bend, change height, or is obstructed by something.
So a somewhat rough way of telling how much energy you might generate from the flow by eye alone as well as prettying it up. -

AstralProjector MergedSo, currently, when there is a steep drop for water, these issues exist:
- water voxels fill by stretching up from the lower level to the top, which is visually jarring.
- the texture of the water is stretched
- water SFX are too quiet
Corrective action:
- make sure the water voxels always visually fill or fall from the higher level to the lower.
- instead of just stretching the texture, replace or cover it with a properly scaled 'turbulent' or foamy water shader + texture that better represents foaming water falling, especially adding splashing and foaming effects at the bottom and adjusting the scale of the effects depending on height of fall (smaller foam and splash for 1m fall and larger for 2m and 3m+.
- larger and more present water flow SFX
- additional waterfall SFX with some variations and volumes depending on height of fall. -
