Resource suggestion: Bamboo
Bamboo is one of the most used "wood" types in the world, so it only makes sense to i clude it in Timberborn. It could be map/climate specific or maybe even faction specific. Properties:
As a plant:
- Bamboo would have 2 stages of growth - sprouts that can be harvested for food and fully grown harvested as bamboo sticks. (faction specific birch and/or carrot replacement?)
- Grows rapidly, requires a lot of water
- Total growth time of both stages takes 1 more day than Birch.
As food:
- Satisfies tier 1 nutrition (faction specific carrot replacement?)
- Can be cooked (grill for tier2)
As a material:
- Has to be stored in log piles
- Can NOT be turned into planks
- Allows construction of bamboo platforms and stairs (faction specific?, don't require planks)
- Allows construction of pipes (faction specific?)
- allows construction of long power shafts (power shaft bridges) that do not require support in the middle.
- allows construction of wind chimes and bamboo fences (decoration)

Zam!@Gin Fuyou - sure, but to some degree I would add it just as a global resource available to some degree to all ractions, so I guess it's not entirely the same?

Gin Fuyou AdminYeah, I just mentioned it, I'm sure you knew about my concept. Personally I feel bad about games restricting me with faction, I always enjoyed like capturing enemy buildings or units in games like Tiberian Sun or C&C Generals and building multi-faction bases. So I'd probably would prefer that some resources were just initially opened to some faction, and could be acquired by others later through research, trade or exploration.

Krashyou could even make the bamboo quick growing (3 days) but only get a partial like .25 logs per square

Joe L.As opposed to use as lumber, the mature bamboo could be turned into charcoal as fuel for grills or energy generation like the IT engine.

Hoember MergedNew plant bamboo.
Storage like wood.
usage:
papper,
scraffolding, ladder, roof, other light building.
pipes (bamboo+resin=pipe). (Pipes to make sprinkler system, from high reservior to lower field use gravity),
and bunch of bamboo to made "floater-walve" to auto-opening/closing damm, depend on water level.
Bamboo planting : max 1 tile high water by forrester, and will consuming water under growing cycle. So be careful to plant too many.
Owerflowed (2+ level water) or not hardvested bamboo died, and made a "floating-mess" and if this be trawel to the damm, jamming it, possible made a small owerflow... -

MandosBamboo scaffolding where it can be taken down rather than having to be destroyed would be awesome.

SaloraSo I wanted to say something here about bamboo, a criticism and a tangential suggestion that would ‘fix’ said criticism.
First, the criticism: bamboo doesn’t really live anywhere that beavers live. There’s two species of beaver. The american beaver lives in north america, and the eurasian beaver lives in central europe, eastern europe, scandinavia, and west russia. None of those places have native bamboo.
The solution to the above problem… is that I lied :)
No, the bamboo you’re used to seeing doesn’t grow natively in any of those areas, but arucaria is a species of bamboo that’s native to the american southwest, where it grows along floodplains and forms areas known as ‘canebrakes’. Its a bamboo! It can be eaten just like bamboo, and the indigenous people of that region would make things with it, just like the east asian cultures use bamboo to make things!
In short: i totally support this idea, but make it arucaria bamboo. :) -

Pat4yczekone of intresting use of bamboo is scaffolding, uses in big projects, there cheap, can make path on them, but will have debuff on walking speed
