Scaffolding. Temporary builders platforms.
As things stand, beavers can build structures multiple stories high from ground level. I would suggest adding scaffolding in order to build something higher than 2 stories. Cheaper to build than say, stairs, and enabling beavers to climb vertically. Only used for building purposes, i.e. players can't build scaffolding as a substitute for stairs or platforms.

"Craft the World" does this perfectly. In case you need a system to compare your proposal by. -

RyvreI like to imagine that they are great at using ropes, although in that case it would be great if they could use them for transportation (maybe a rope post for climbing up several levels).

David C Bollingeryou could set them so that only builders could use them, and they can go strait up them, and build them on the sides of structures and over not solid buildings, but you can't build anything other than scaffolding off of them.

Gannonite MergedAn unlockable platform that can be dismantled to get the resources back when you are finished using it to build a dam, etc.

Chameleon777I was thinking of something along the lines of dragging zones wherein scaffolds are built (tapping metal supply) when buildings to be constructed are vertically higher than the beaver and there are no paths going up that high. Once all buildings in a zone are constructed, the scaffolding is taken down and most of the metal is recovered. Using stairs and platforms to take down tall peaks can be arduous.

richardhow about adding those rules/features
*can't be place on/in water
*wood +1 with for +3 height, metal +1 with for +6 hight
*can't be build on
*has to be build in a new factories building
*can be reused -

JYThis would be especially useful when building power shafts and tall levee walls. My thought would be for them to be free or recyclable (maybe comparable to the cost of platforms, but get all of the material minus one piece back), and possibly have built-in ladders (even if this was a higher cost).
If they had built-in ladders, that would also allow rescuing beavers who get trapped behind a building that was just built (plus, hopefully it would be faster, so it would be easier to rescue them before they could starve/die of thirst).
Lastly, the "scaffolding" effect could be used when building large structures (especially monuments, temples, etc) to show an animated construction process instead of the building just popping into place. (In this case, the scaffolding would not cost extra. It would just be using the same art asset for two different things.) -

Baum MergedIt's annoying to always really build full platforms, if a bigger construction is not reachable. Maybe make scaffolding available, that is much cheaper, but degrades after 2-4 days, because it's so much more fragile and not used as a permanent road. Or alternatively only usable by builders.

KvaGramI want to add to this.
I want to ask you, what is the difference between the district center and the builders' Hut?
Not much, really. Sure the district center is free, and you can only have one center per district.
But the workers in each building do the same thing.
So other than adding more beavers to build more buildings faster, there is no point to the builders hut.
I suggest we change that.
If scaffolding is a consumable item instead of a building, it can be consumed by beavers as they use it to reach higher heights, of lower depths.
And it can only be done from beavers in a builder's hut. This adds a very practical reason to build one of those.
As for where scaffolding could be produced, I imagine either by the lumber mill (in a recipe from logs) or in a gear workshop (in a recipe from planks).
Since they are consumed (broken after use), I also suggest them to be cheap. -

WhiteRooNow that building material refunding is in the game, I'd suggest to add it like this:
-Add a New material: Scaffolding. Made from scrap and treated plank in its own building or in Smelter with an alternate recipe.
-It builds 2 things: special versions of the 1 Platform and the Staris on a cheap rate of 1:1.
-The platform is automatically considered to have a Path on it like bridges
-Buildings made from Scaffolding always refund 100% when demolished, regardless of difficulty level
-1 unit of Scaffolding is only 1 Kg, so moving it is fast andt efficient
-Assembling the Scaffolding buildings is very fast.
-They cannot support buildings other than Scaffolding buildings.
-rubble (scaffolding) is proritised
I think the use of late-game resources would make it a fairly expensive option to use instead of the current Platforms, but making it move from costruction to construction would make this interesting.
This would make large-scale projects faster and more interesting to build -

Kjer MergedI ve been fascinated with the Clhinese and their use of bamboo to build incredibly tall structures. I was trying to make a base for a gravitic battery high up, however I had to build so much rigging to get to it that taking it down {that construction rigging) after building it up was far more of a hassle than it was worth and debris was everywhere. So what if you had thosee bamboo (or wooden) pieces that you could somehow morph to build high projects and dams and could then retract back to a safekeeping area or something for reuse.

Gaberwocky MergedIt'd be helpful if there was a way to have beavers auto build navigation to a construction. i.e say you want many water wheel back to back into the water, the ones in the middle cannot be reached and won't get constructed. But if you build that first, build a platform path to it, let the beavers finish the wheel in the middle, then delete the path back and build the next water wheel closer to shore, you can build this.
Either, builder should be able to build through/over any existing building (climbing over it or hanging off the side?) or there should be some sort of 'scaffolding' - temporary access structure the beavers throw up to reach construction sights further in to a contiguous construction string. Scaffolding could cost some resources temporarily, then return them when torn down?
I'm sure there are other way to handle this, it's just annoying to manually make a temporary path to get the constructions you want built, when you're going to infill some connective construction -

SankyIf restriction is needed, like "Craft the World", 3 additional building: scaffolding storehouse (size: 1x1x2, 2x3x2) and scaffolding workshop (size 2x2x2), workshop employ 1 beaver to make scaffolding, afterward send to storehouse (each 1 tile scaffolding took the storage space of 1x1x2).
each time we "build" a scaffolding, beaver will take it from storehouse and build at the location (without cost), when destroy return nothing but workshop need time to create each of them 1 by 1 (cost of each scaffolding is the each 1 tile of storehouse in this case).
scaffolding should be able to build on all solid, ground and on another scaffolding, it also allow to attach on sideway of another scaffolding (work like a bridge)
it allow only builder job beaver to pass thru, travel all 6 direction (2 vertical, 4 horizontal) with a slight movement reduction, like 10-20% -

Rick MergedIt would be so awesome to have some sort of construction bracing possible so we can temporarily support a structure from the side while its primary support is being switched to a different type of platform or whatever. So annoying to find a minor goof at bottom of massive structure with no way to fix without full demolition.

Losis MergedMovable stairs would be very practical for beavers to build high buildings without a need to build permanent paths via stairs to remove them later which is somewhat a waste of effort. This also means to have a toolbox system where they can keep x number of these mobile stairs. Currently only tool they seem to need is a hammer looking at the visuals and they are always there by default.
