Thirst, hunger and productivity - scale needs with working hours
As in real life thirst and hunger needs should decrease slower when beaver doesn't work and even slower when it sleeps. For example: 100% decrease speed when the beaver is working, 90% decrease speed after shift end (for unemployed beavers and children all day) and 80% speed decrease when beaver sleeps.
Also I suggest to decrease productivity of beavers after sunset, so each extra hour after 16th is less and less productive (17th - 90% of normal, 18th - 80% and so on).
This two features combined can make shift management interesting.

FuryoftheStarsI'd maybe take the food part a step further and say 100/80/60 percent, that way it's noticeable and meaningful (and will have a real impact on your food stores by working them 24/7 vs letting them take a lot of time off).
As for the productivity, I think it'd be better to tie it to their actual sleep meter. When below 25-30% or something they start suffering from working/walking/carrying speed penalties until they've had a chance to restore it. -

Tarune MergedFood and water consumption could be based on hours working each day. If I want to really power through the last days before a drought it will cost me a higher rate of food and water loss. On the flip side if I get near the end of a drought I can put the hours down to almost nothing and the beavers will eat/drink less. Or, another option could be setting a ration level for the beavers.
