Make Shaft as dynamic system - auto-adjusting universal power shaft, automatic shaft
HI,I see there is many subjects with shafts and I have also some needs.
I think by developping shaft as being dynamic (shaft determined next to neighboor one) could solve many requests :
I imagine 3 shafts :
- "Ground Shaft" which should be place on floor and on solid building. It stand for all default one ( ─┌ ├ ┼ )
- "Vertical Shaft" which should be search and develop for a high cost (~500 SP). This one could be placed only on "gound shaft".
- "Join Shaft" which should be search and develop for a high cost (~1000 SP). It role was to let mecanic movement thought a dam whil retaining the water.
By doing this, we could make unlimited height vertical shaft (more than 2 heights) .
About costs :
- The last shaft placed next to another shaft which have effect changing configuration, its cost take into account its self cost and the extra ressource implying the updated adjacend shaft(s).
I hope the idea could become true and solve all other request.
Thanks a lot for all !
Kindly regard

It would be great if the power shafts auto rotated to the correct direction like the Tubeways do. I spend a lot of time rotating things that could happen automatically. -

Gin Fuyou Admin1. It's not clear what you meant by "join shaft"? Is it like suggestion where shaft goes through a levee?
2. I'd also like to see "suspended" shafts, like bridges 1x2 bridge. -

FuryoftheStarsI’m good with the idea of the dynamic ground and vertical shafts, but not the join shaft. The beavers don’t have the tech required to allow a rotating object through another one not leak water. This would also theoretically weaken the structural integrity of the levee/dams. Just build the shafts on a platform going above/beside the dam. Mission accomplished.

hadidi MergedPower shafts should automatically turn into an intersection when another power shaft touches it. No need for individual intersection pieces. This saves time from having to click intersections, then straight shaft, then intersections again.

Jaco3011 MergedOr at maybe make that adaptable piece separate entity, like in that mod.

strohhut MergedI really love how the power gears look like and that there are different kind of gears. The problem is I only build cross gears because it is so fiddly to change a section afterwards. My suggestion let us build just on type of gear that changes depending on their neighbours.

trankillity MergedCame here to suggest something similar, but this is a better idea. My idea was to allow us to build different power connections on existing shafts rather than needing to destroy the previous shaft just to rebuild in a different configuration.

Beaverhands MergedCurrently, there are no vertical shafts, or shafts that can connect at 90 degrees while also stepping down, which makes builds a pain. Also, managing the different shaft types is a unnecessary hassle, and the differences in resource cost is trivial.
Instead, please make a single shaft type that is stackable and will connect in any direction (like paths), even up and down. Stacking shafts should create a long vertical shaft. Building a shaft directly beneath or on top of a building should also connect power. -

V MergedIt would be nice to have only single type of Power Shafts and it's will connect automatically to nearby Power Shafts or buildings just like Hedge.

Cass MergedPlacing and constructing powershafts is a pain in the arse right now. There are 7 different directional variants, and when constructing a network you often need to swap between three or four of them, and rotate them multiple times.
These should be collapsed into a single tool that allows you to drag straight lines, add a turn with a single click and continue dragging in another direction, with a convenient keybind (such as holding shift) to drag in the vertical axis instead of horizontal.
Similarly, you should be able to drag off an existing shaft and have the join-point automatically converted into the relevant junction - for instance dragging from a straight shaft should queue it to be turned into a T-junction.
The total resource cost should accumulate at the bottom of the screen, and then clicking twice on the final placement position should confirm the build. -

Kax Morben MergedWhenever a new power connecter part is placed next to an existing power connector, it would be nice if the the existing one automatically connected to it rather than having to destroy the existing one and replace it with a different part.
For example, if I place a straight power connector piece and then later on place a Lumber Mill or another power connection next to it (but not directly in its path), it would be nice if it morphed into a three-way/four-way connector. -

FuzzMy 2 cents:
Make power shafts behave the same way as the Tubeways do for the IT faction on current experimental branch! -

World DragonUpvoted with a simple caveat of, make them the same as current tube ways. A non solid version to start and a solid version that can be unlocked that allows you to stack and go vertical. Completely universal.
