More visual effects: Heat Wave Refraction during Drought, Moonlight, Fog
Adding a heat wave refraction effect to the background could make for an interesting addition to the ambience of a drought. (I've included a picture for an example)
[mod edit]: expanded for other environmental visual effects

There is not much visual difference between mid-ultra gfx. But adding a visual, moving, low-hanging morning mist could add some visual interest. -

Fluddy MergedWould make the game even more beautiful. Maybe even with different shadow falls and different colors of the light? Silver-y over night, orang-y in early mornings/late afternoons, gold-y over day, uncomftyrbale red-y/gold-y in droughts?

Gin Fuyou Admin(carried over from partially done suggestion):
Additionally we could have full moon nights which are brighter than usual or mist forming around water tiles at night time. -

RandyPlease do not make this heatwave effect enabled by default. Users with less than perfect eyes may stop playing if there is no way to disable this. I think this is a horrible idea myself. Moonlight, however, on the water sounds like a pretty good idea. The mention of heatwave and blurry image prevents me from upvoting.
