Build queue and priority overview tab - construction sites list and management
I'd like to see a window that lets you manually organize the build priority of everything that is under construction. Maybe there could be building under the "District Management" tab for a Foreman's office.

I would really like a menu showing me all buildings that is currently under construction. This would be useful to actually see what my builders are doing and to prioritize building from a page were i can see all build sites. -

Jan MergedWhen building several things at the same time I think it would be helpful to see what "highest" priority means - especially because you can mark more than one construction site as "highest". Any sort of (pref. editable) queue/list/visual indicator would help to manage the building order in cases of limited resources or changes in need/demand.

FuryoftheStars MergedJan, base priority is first to last of what you lay down to be built of what is reachable. From there, the priority system is a way to bump their position in the queue, but it still goes first to last, so if you bump 10 things to highest priority, they'll build the first of those 10 things you laid down.
As such, as Gin mentioned, only bump the priority of a few at a time, or use the multiple tiers of priority to your advantage. Just keep in mind that if they can only reach 1 of your highest priority items at the moment and all needed materials are en-route, extra beavers will start working on the next priority down until your other highest priority items become reachable. The system will not automatically prioritize items that are needed to reach the highest priority items. You'll need to do that yourself. -

Andrew MergedI think his suggestion was more a visual map that you could see what you have based as highest -> high -> med etc and have your highest/high/etc clumped together in a GUI that you can move the orders around. Sometimes, You build a big housing unit that is multiple houses deep but then you are like damn... I need more power. you already set all of the housing to highest priority, but you want those one or two windmills to go to the front now. Instead of having to unassigned the housing project, then assign the windmills, then assign the housing project again, I believe the wish is to be able to graphically move the priority list rather than dealing with a 5 tier system. I like this idea.

tee Mergedit would be nice to have a queue that you can see like aoe2 or civ or something where you can see what's going to be built in what order. for some reason the beavers work in a very linear order and will not move on to the next or nearest structure unless whatever is first in line gets built and when you lack resources all building just stops despite you having resources to build other things. it would be nice to visibly see what's holding up the line opposed to having to go clicking thru every tentative building

Peter Hazlewood MergedWhen I'm working on multiple building projects that require lots of resources, it's not unusual for them to be rather queued waiting for resources and builders. It would be helpful to have both an overview- which might show all incomplete building projects, state of progress etc- and also to have an alert come up when a building is completed. I'm probably away doing something elsewhere on the map and may have no idea that it's now ready to go!

Bryce MergedI plan my builds way ahead and i think it would be nice to see a toggle in the build menu that allows me to visualize the build queue. perhaps a color scale opacity over structures works best such as red to green for oldest to soonest, of course any colors would work. that way I can see what parts are gonna be made soonest so I may prioritize accordingly

Honest Tortilla MergedThe building priority system is too simplistic and does not work well with large amounts of builds. This means that even using the proirities as much as possible, if there are 20 or so items in each priority, knowing which one will be worked on next is not trivial. I Specially see this being a problem on terraforming operations with thousands of Terrain Blocks pending construction.
To address this, I though of adding a ui element that would show in a list all the buildings waiting to be build. The user could drag and drop elements in the list to rearrange, efectively setting the exact order in which each item. This is equivalent to having as many priority levels as buildings waiting to be built. The list could also have more features like linking to the building ghost in the map, a progress bar and alerts badges informing of lack of resources, etc. -

GlitchyGemzMaybe you could merge multiple construction sites into one so that you can change the priority of all of them at once. Then you could also change the priority of the buildings within the construction site to say which one is going to be build first.

Jonathan Mergedit would be great to have a building queue somewhere (maybe) (under the beaver numbers on the left?) so we can see what is currently being built. After im doing some plans and put the buildings down on pause its not that quick to let each one unpause. The priority doesnt help that mush

Bobert MergedA lens you can turn on to see what will get built first ( different from priority lens) for example if I built a water pump then a farmhouse, the water pump would show up a darker color than the farmhouse. There could be an icon for buildings that I have set as prioritized or unprioritized

DaintyDuck MergedI use 2 or more builders huts and it would be nice if they had an additional GUI listing the various projects waiting to be built, with a check box next to them so you can assign different huts to different jobs. As it is, this is like any other colony sim game that does one project at a time. Assigning different priorities still takes them one building at a time. I pause & put down the blueprints for multiple projects and it would be nice to divide those projects, for quicker implementation. I wouldn't suggest listing each piece of dynamite laid down, but everything else could be assigned among the huts.

NobodyIdeally some sort of smart grouping expandable drag droppable list of everything queued to build but this is complex, non trivial task.
Smart grouping like for example touching levees displayed as "+ Levee (39)". Click the plus to expand.
Simple suggestion:
I suggest an intermediate feature, add two buttons to the 'Priority Tool',
1. 'Bring to Front',
2. 'Send to Back'.
In other words 'First' and 'Last'.
These two buttons would not create a persistent priority class... they perform an order shuffling as if the items selected were placed first or last. -

Toni MergedWith the notifications in the bottom left corner (i.e. "Construction lacks materials"), it would be nice if when you hovered over the notification, it would give you a quick view of which constructions are missing materials. I'm thinking the name of the construction/building would be super helpful and maybe what materials it's missing? If I'm working a project, I don't necessarily want to click the notification to have the map redirect me to what's the issue - I want to a quick view to be able to quickly see "do I care or is it something I'm already aware of?" (i.e. I know that the buildings are missing planks, but I've already solved that issue and I'm just waiting on the beavers to produce the planks.

oliver100% agree this is needed.
i currently a have 400 tiles of impermeable floor being built, i dont really mind how long this would take, but i would rather prioritize resources to other builds.
there is a tab for this for workers, so why not have a way to manage a build que.
i recognize you can do this manually as you build, but i find it tedious to do on a 1:1 basis, or by dragging the priority tool -

Arodan MergedI love the Priority painting tool, but sometimes, with large projects that involve varying levels of urgency, beavers can sometimes fail to prioritize what you may desperately need them to, in that moment, even by listing all other items as low priority. I think that maybe the addition of a dropdown list on the HUD somewhere, where you can drag projects that you want completed before or after others, might be a really neat help! The priority painter would still have a great use, but this added feature could help ensure that critical projects are attended to, if for instance your resources are dwindling quickly, and said projects were the remedy. :)

KagmanplaysI don't want anything complicated. Just a simple list of what the game has prioritized to be built. Basically just the games build Queue, I don't need to be able to modify it or make changes to it I just want to see in what order the game is wanting to build things.
