U5 Add ability for farmers to water plants in drought
This would be an extremely time intensive activity, perhaps taking double the harvest time, and costing a minimum of one unit of water per day plant. or if you want to be nice, a unit of water for two days.
By default toggled off, with a warning stating that this consumes a lot of water
If enabled, each plant is treated like IT breeding pod where it can hold two days worth of water (or perhaps a variable radius from farmhouse based on amount of water/time would be better?)
during the time where they are watered, they grow normally. If water runs out, they enter a dying state like they do currently.
This does not protect against contamination
Why?
If you have water in reserve but your food is critically low or just gone, this can offer you a chance to survive until the next temperate season.

Hawkeightit would be nice to see the farmers doing something instead of sitting around waiting. maybe giving the plant's plant food which could open an opportunity for something new like composting leaves or old food.
